Thinking Of Taking The Plunge & Starting Minoxidil

Hey,

I've been on finasteride for about 13months. I only started it as I was scared of some potential crown thinning. Over a year later and that all seems to be fine however I'm pretty sure my hairline is starting to lose ground so I'm thinking of giving minoxidil a try.

I've attached some current pics however as it's night time the lighting isn't great, so I've attached some recent pics too.

Questions:

.Is eBay good for buying legit minoxidil?
.Foam or liquid for hairline only?
.On the item description I keep seeing it says "not for hairline, for vertex only". Is that right?
.Kirkland or Rogaine?
.Any tips to prevent premature aging whilst using minoxidil?

Cheers boys!

idk i think your hairline looks pretty good. But you can never hurt yourself by adding minoxidil, just make sure you can handle the commitment. TBH I really think you only would need it in the crown though (if anywhere)

That's my thinking. It can't hurt right lol? And idk, my hairline is becoming brutal whilst my crown is maintaining.

Yeah I mean you know your hair best. For me my biggest concerns are when its more difficult to style and not having the same thickness as before (not more/less scalp showing). Its weird pictures can be deceptive sometimes in looking as if you have full hair, but in actuality the hair is very limp/thin and looks worse in real life.

Either way, I think you caught this early, so go for minoxidil and see how you respond. Don't get deterred with the initial shedding; everyone for the most part looks same/better off in 3 months it seems

No. Literally a dense NW1. If you're receding at all it's at such a slow rate that finasteride will keep your hair forever.

Cheers dude. One last pic. You sure I'm good without minoxidil? xD

Bump. Any other opinions about whether I should start minoxidil?

I say do it. There will be a shed at the beginning (hopefully, as that implies it’s working), but in a few months you should be above where you are now.

Take detailed photos preferably somewhere with strong light. Also, as hair length can sometimes be deceiving, perhaps take note of your hair length now, and try and cut it to the same length in 3 months time to see how effective minoxidil was.

Success someowhat comes down to ones genetic ability of having the enzyme sulfotransferase, but you won’t know how good of a responder you are until you try. It’s up to you on which type you want to use, but I feel the best responses for people with longer hair like yourself come from the liquid version as it’s hard for the foam to penetrate to the scalp. Also make sure to vigorously rub it in for ~1 min to help the scalp absorb it. Dermarolling is also something to consider too as most people report superior results when they combine the two.

But yeah dude best of luck if you decide to start. Keep us posted if you do decide to try it!!

Yea man that's why I'm having doubts about whether I wanna commit to it right now. I've heard it makes your hair look like sh*t too.

Are you on finasteride as well?

Yeah I use topical finasteride mixed with Min. The later you start, the shittier you’ll look at the apex of your shed. For some, their rate of loss outpaces the rate of growth minoxidil adds and they end up balding faster due to the initial shed (highkey worried that’s what’s happening to me). I’d ask myself if the benefits outweigh the risks, and for you I don’t think they do. Wait till your sh*t is getting thin all over imho

Thanks bro. Yea that's what I think I'll do. If I was gonna apply minoxidil, I'd probably only do it along my temples and hairline anyway tbh.

I wouldn't start it, if you do shed you're not gonna be happy. If you are going bald I'd wait until it's more prevelant.

Don't do it, wair.

I went for it, boys. Just applied minoxidil for the first time. I literally put on the smallest amount possible on the my temples and a bit below my forelock. I really don't want the shedding and facial bloating/aging that can come with it, so I'm using Differin as a precaution.

Will update.
