I am 21 years old. currently i am using Minoxidil 5% and a shampoo similar to nizarol and frequently emu oil and castor oil. I have diffusing thinning but it is not upto the point that its completely noticable. I have been debating with myself whether to take propecia or not. Can anyone please give me some insight on this? How frequent are the possibilities of developing sides?

5% at most
the official trials say:
"Clinical Studies For PROPECIA (Finasteride 1 mg) In The Treatment Of Male Pattern Hair Loss
In three controlled clinical trials for PROPECIA of 12-month duration, 1.4% of patients taking PROPECIA (n=945) were discontinued due to adverse experiences that were considered to be possibly, probably or definitely drug-related (1.6% for placebo; n=934)."

I don't buy the 5% for a minute. Most people I speak with have some adverse effects regardless of how minor.

I would argue it's a lot higher although the side effects are generally very minor or difficult to notice, things like fatigue/brain fog are sometimes difficult to recognise until you stop.

Not even trying to scaremonger. I think it's a fantastic drug but people should recognise that there is a substantial chance they will notice some kind of adverse effects.

What bugs me is that a lot of people report that they still shed even after taking propecia for like 6 months. If you can handle that and stay positive than good luck.

depends what you consider sides. I would say that MOST people develop side effects, even if they don't recognize them. It IS A PROSTATE DRUG, that alters your hormones. How in the f*** are the people taking it for HAIRLOSS, not developing effects on other parts of the body? Well, they are... 100% guaranteed, they either simply don't recognize it, or they don't want to recognize it.

If you’re considering minor things like slowed body hair growth or even LESS body hair growth as a side then I’d agree and say it’s way more than 5. But when I personallly think of sides it’s something that effects your day to day or wellbeing directly, I think it’s more like <10%
