Time to freak out?

1. 24 year old male
2. Always had a ton of hair
3. Dad is late 50's and has a full head of hair
4. I have always had a big forehead/high hairline

Recently noticed that it seems like my temples are receding. Its all I can see now and I am constantly thinking about it. Brought it up to my parents and they just laughed it off.

Am I being crazy or is it time to freak out?

I don't think it matters if your dad had a full head of hair. For all you know, balding could be in your mother's line. For a time in fact it was believed that male pattern baldness was inherited from the mother's side, even though we have then realized that's a bit of a myth.

I'd look towards your grandparents or siblings of your mother. But, in my opinion, you do in fact have a pattern going on. I'd like to hear other answers as I'm on the same boat as you.

Your hairline looks completely alright to me. In general, the length of your chins to nostril = length
of the top of your nose to your hairline.

I don't see any recession at all. I think you are not balding, at least your hairline looks normal.

have some temple recession going on. In general, the length of your chins to nostril = length

Probably nothing to worry about. It looks like you are over washing your hair? Probably should just wash your hair once every three
days, because it looks kind of dry from the pictures.

Don't know about the vertex (because I can't see it in this picture).

Wait are you guys serious? I hope you are, I have possibly the exact same hairline as this guy, maybe lower, but definitely the temples area. I was already considering going on finasteride

my hairline is very similar to yours. I had full and thick temple hair when I was a teenager but it began to thin rapidly when I was 21-23. Its hard to judge from this picture like others have said, do you have pictures from a few years ago?

What happened after age 23? Did it slow down or did you end up going bald?

I think the worry and stress of hair loss can be a contributing factor so do whatever you think you need to do to put your mind at ease.

It's called genetics. The same reason a diet doesn't affect hair loss.

No. Honestly that's nothing as far as receding hairlines go.

If you are really worried about it and if you are thinking about it all the time you may want to get your hair checked by a professional tricologist or dermatologist. They can do some checks for you and you can be more sure if you have male pattern baldness or not. Besides this I can say that such a hair line and such temples are rare to have as a mature hair line. I wish you all the best!
