I have been on topical fina for almost a month and I am freaking out, I can't tell if it's getting better or worse or is showing no change at all. This thing is really f*****g my head up. Here are pics I took today, first half with the hair combed forward, last with it slicked back. See here for my originals from September:
https://www.gourmetstylewellness.com/intera...rmer-lurker-here-interested-in-advice.108462/

I am thinking about just going on oral fina and ditching the topical. I have read that there's not much effectiveness oncrease between 1 and .2 mg's, I am thinking of doing .5 a day. Thoughts?

Well I'm happy to hear you're going to do something about it. You're a good enough looking dude (better looking than me anyway) but you have let your hairloss go WAAAYYY too far without using proper treatments.

Start with 0.2 mg or 0.5 mg if it makes you feel better.

You can see the difference in DHT for a single dose of varying strengths finasteride here:

fin_halflife-gif.gif

Point is, there is absolutely more DHT suppression (which is the goal here) after one dose on 1.5 mg than on 0.2 mg. 0.2 mg barely does anything at all.

But in the long term graph with daily dosing it seems to be pretty similar from 0.2 mg to 1 mg:

Effectiveness drops off <0.2 mg daily. But keep in mind everyone will respond differently and that is why the 1 mg dose was probably chosen for propecia - it is to guarantee a good response in almost everyone.

You really might not have much more time to get on top of this before some of that diffuse thinning becomes irreversible. Yes, some guys can wait til they're almost slick bald, and have amazing recoveries, but they are the minority. Most guys must save everything they can as early as they can.

I would personally work up to 1.25 mg (1/4 of 5 mg) daily and stick with it for a year. Continue minoxidil 5% twice daily. Continue nizoral shampoo and let it soak for 5 minutes before rinsing. You have an over 94% chance of regrowing hair if you do this.

Hair loss obviously bothers you. And you definitely have had a lot of it. I'm happy you're finally deciding to do something proper about it. Get on a good dose and see what happens. You're a young guy. You'll probably respond just fine.

Good luck.

Do you think I should give the topical fina a chance? I have only been using it for about a month. I feel like maybe I should at least wait 3 months before ditching it.

Get on oral finasteride 1mg.
As you said, just stop f*****g around.

If you get sides drop it immediately. I'm now in it for a year, it seems to work and now slowly I will think about going topical or using just ru.

I had tense balls for two days when starting finasteride and have now slighly more fluid semen.

Don't try to sit out sides and be careful.

Why would you go to topical from oral?

Get on finasteride orally asap bro. I think topical finasteride would just maintain at best.. at least with the pills you have a good chance at keeping what you got then get a hair transplant of 2500 - 3000 grafts you could be solid NW2 again maybe better.
By the way Julian, if you've done your homework you will know body hair grows mainly because of dht and you are incredibly hairy.. i think you will respond well to oral treatment.

Topical finasteride likely works by going systemic anyway so i think it's a waste of time personally.

Good to hear bro, but don't expect immediate results, they most likely will show up after a solid year on it

Topical finasteride is sh*t, if it doesn't go systemic it's definitely not working, and if it does go systemic, you're not getting enough to have any effect on follicles.

As for oral, start on .5 everyday

Who has tested it for longer than 6 months?

Of the hundreds of thousands people paranoid of oral finasteride I can bet you ALOT more than you think have used and still use it, The fact is no one has produced results.

Hasson and Wong made their version of it to serve to the existing market of people who wanted topical alternatives(even an idiot knows this market is huge)... no results at all coming from that lotion, no testimonials on it working, not even maintenance pics. I'll let you guess why.

All that to say I tried a topical finasteride compounded from my pharmacy and it wrecked my hairline noticeably in 3 months.

hasson and wong came out with their formula, which is supposed to avoid the systemic absorption while maintaining its effects in the scalp. best part is this product has been out for a year or more.... what does that tell you?
