Hi everyone,

I read a number of posts from this forum before starting finasteride. I got a prescription for 5mg pills and chopped them into eights to get about 0.6mg each, then took one each for eight days. At about the fourth day I started to get side effects of moderate ED and a feeling like I had to pee all the time. I kept taking it until the eighth day, then stopped. It's been six days after and my side effects have gotten worse: now my ED is at 100% (can't get it up even a little bit) and I am starting to get really scared. How long should I expect to wait before it gets better? Has anyone else had this experience before?

I can give more information if it helps.
Thanks.

Whatever you do don't masturbate just to try to get an erection. This will just make your problem even worse. I didn't experience ED from finasteride, but I have had "ED" from psychological problems at only 20 years old. I had slight trouble getting it up once when I was drunk and after that I literally could not get it up for the life of me for like a month. Even if I did get an erection it was nowhere near as erect as before. I kept thinking it was caused by some other health problem that I didn't know about or that my high BP was causing it and that it was not psychological. This only made things even worse. I was even having trouble getting erections masturbating not just during sex. Eventually I just kind of ignored it and cut out all p**rn/masturbating for like a week and my morning erections/sex drive went back up. I am not saying that your problem is psychological. It could very well be from the finasteride, but you would be surprised how many young people deal with ED from psychological problems and just thinking you have ED from something else will make it even worse. Try not to think about it for like a week and don't masturbate during this time. Wish the best to you. Try to stay off the forums for a while and hopefully things get better. If they don't then I would consult with a doctor.
