Took My Very First Dose Of Finasteride Today.

Hey everyone! Hope you are all doing very well. So some may or not already know my situation. I am 23 years old originally from Turkey but now living in Ireland. I always had perfect thick hair. By thick I mean high density and the individual strands as well.

At the age of about 19 I cut my hair really short with a guard 5 and noticed my scalp is visible. Didn't think much of it until about a few months ago where I noticed I can't grow my hair long and when I do it looks really messy and when it's oily it's see through. I decided to do something about it. I contacted Dr. Erdogan in Turkey and he said that I need to start of Finasteride for 1 month and then take new pictures and send it to him.

Yesterday I got my prescription and today I got the medication and took my first 1.25 mg of Finasteride at around 11:20 AM Irish Time.

I am thinking about updating this thread every month or so to see how I am doing. The pictures I have attached are wet hair and dry hair. I cut my hair really really short yesterday. The wet hair pictures are from last month while the dry hair is from today. As you can see I am a diffuse thinner. I also attached pictures of my hair from the sides and front as well all taken today.

Oh I also forgot to mention I did a blood test 3 weeks ago and my doctor said with an outstanding blood test like this there is no way your hair loss could be from a deficiency or anything it is genetics hence the reason she gave me Finasteride.

yes I do there are some pics already on here but my situation has got worse and the lighting I have is too harsh its creating a glare off my scalp when I take pictures...going to change the bulbs in my bathroom to a lower light and take pictures again so I can do exact honest monthly updates

Just a small question. For the moment my doctor prescribed 2 months of proscar. She said she done this to make sure I don't get any side effects etc... Just wondering what can I expect from proscar in these 2 months?

i only got on finasteride when I was NW3/NW4. i wish I'd gotten on it 5 years before i started balding, i might be a thick NW2 who knows.
i basically ignored it and coped saying "it isn't so bad and girls like the shaved look, by the time i get sick of it there'll be a cure" how nieve i was . when i hit NW3/NW4 and the way girls especially treated me drastically changed, i knew it was time to do something

How old were you when u started balding? How old r u now? So you had aboslutely 0 sides from finasteride? How long were you using it for?

i was 21 or 22, i am 31 now. if you were born in 87, i was born in 86. i wouldn't say i had 0 sides - for the first two weeks i had aching balls and my sex drive went up by 10% (so it did have an effect). used it now for probably 5 years or so.
i am used to much stronger meds than finasteride so maybe that is why i don't percieve much from it

Hey man, apology for the delay in the response I was not around and was a bit busy. Anyways, what made me really think about finasteride was the fact that in school there was me and this Brazillian guy and this would have been about 6 years ago I guess?......anyways everyone in school always said that me and him had the best hair in all the school. So one day I was going through old pictures of myself back in 2012 and then saw my picture now and I was like what the heck man either I'll get the sides or I won't either way I have to do something to get back to where I was before since I always had such thick high density hair. Now my thickness is still the same but I have lost density so I wanted to get that back.

Also one more thing that made me do this as well was when I was watching a show on Netflix called Riverdale and the the guy in it Cole Sprouse has amazing hair something like I had in 2012 and he grew it out long something I can't do now since I don't have enough density. So That prompted me to do something about it as well.

In terms of sides I think it's mainly in peoples head. We have read on websites about possible side effects and we get the placebo effect thinking we have sides. I'm not saying there isn't people with no sides but I think it's rare. It's like any medicine even antibiotics for example lists a lot of side effects but people rarely get them. Like myself. I took the first dose of Finasteride and on the same day I thought I was having weak erections and feeling tired where as I had literally only taken the pill about 20 minutes before hand.

Anyways it's really up to you whether you want to start on Finasteride or not but if you want to save your hair do it in m opinion. Best of luck!

Just want to do a quick update. It has been 1 week since I took my first dosage. I am still taking it every day at the same time. I have noticed one main thing and that is that the oiliness of my skin has dramatically decreased. I also do shed a little bit less I guess but not sure about that as of yet. Will update again at month 1.

Just want to point something out. I know I said I'd be updating next month but something weird has happened. Not sure if it's a placebo or maybe I never paid attention before but since yesterday I have been shedding small low pigmented hairs. Not sure what this is to be honest.

Hello everyone! Hope you are all having an awesome weekend. Tomorrow would mark exactly 30 days of me being on Finasteride. As I won't be around tomorrow I thought I'd do a quick 1 month update. I have attached some pictures all taken today and in one of them I have mayonnaise in my hair for itchy scalp recommended by a dermatologist . My shedding has decreased dramatically . I also have a side by side comparison picture as well one from today the other from last month. Will update again at month 2. Best of luck everyone!

Hello everyone! Hope you are all having an awesome day or evening wherever your are in the world. Today marks exactly 2 months since I have started taking finasteride. What have I noticed so far? I have noticed that I am no longer shedding much hair even when I am showering or on my pillow even though sometimes I don't shower for 3 or 4 days. I do however shed some thin long and or short hairs. These photos were all taken today and yesterday. The ones from today are all dry and normal hair and the ones from yesterday are all after the shower where I have dried my hair a bit but it's still damp, I have named them accordingly. Anyhow I will update again at month 3. So until then hope you all have an amazing time and enjoy the world cup!
