topicals vs. finasteride

I've been visiting gourmetstylewellness.com.com and reading for quite awhile. I posted my story recently. Basically, prostate cancer took my father and his brother, so I'm hesitant about going with finasteride. Does anyone know of any studies on the long-term side effects of finasteride (20 plus years)?

If I were to start a topical DHT inhibitor/antiandrogen instead of finasteride, what would you all recommend? Crinagen seems very appealing as an alternative to finasteride. Have there been any studies begun on crinagen? Is the FDA close to approving anything besides finasteride and minoxidil as proven treatments? What about Crinagen vs. spironolactone?

I've lost about an inch at each temple. But, right now at least, I think I'd be satisfied to just keep what I have without regrowth. So I've been thinking mainly along the lines of DHT inhibitor/antiandrogen. Should I start minoxidil anyway?

Thanks for any input.

The long term studies on proscar indicate that it lowers the incidence of prostate cancer but the cancers that DO develop CAN be more aggressive. This is a new study and scientists are still interpreting the results (means they are arguing). Keep in mind this study looks at the dosage of 5MG, not 1 MG.

RE: crinagen, no fda studies on it. I use it along with minoxidil and folligen.
