Has any recently documented their hair loss by supplementing with black sesame seeds?
I'm 24 this year, I've been struggling with hair loss from a young age, I was on finasteride by the time I was 20. I have diffuse thinning male pattern baldness. I'm on finasteride and minoxidil. I'm also chinese and have black hair.
In China, there are numerous alternative herbs and naturals that people say have health benefits associated with hair loss. When I was back a few years ago, I went to a market and an 'auntie' (random woman vendor) was trying to sell me seeds. She said something along the lines that she noticed my hair thinning and that eating black sesame seeds would help me recover lost hair, improve health and improve thickness.
I obviously ignored her and went about my day.
3 years later, now, I've decided why not? and decided to give it a shot, there is nothing to lose, they taste pretty good and not expensive. I'm eating around a tablespoon of black sesame seeds a day as a snack. I'll report back if I see anything - (I took a picture at baseline).
My rationale for doing it is (some of it might sound pretty stupid):
1. My hair is black, black sesame seeds are black, the pigmentation might help the recovery of hair colour?
2. My ethnic origin is Chinese, living in a western country my diet is likely not to be supplemented as it should be, black sesame seeds are a staple food in china.
3. Nutrient content is high in black sesame seeds so even if it doesn't help hair, it has got to help something.
