Hi,

So about 2 months ago my hair was pretty much how it has been my life (im 19). However over the past 2 months its lost about 50% of its density and is shedding wildly. Im a NW2 atm but thinning very fast. Started on 0.25mg finasteride about 3 weeks ago so still got to wait a while for those results. Wierdly though its going really fast at the sides - in a couple of pulls on one side i got about 20 hairs out - and they keep coming. Ive also fairly bad eyebrow loss so am wondering if this is something other than male pattern baldness? Last time went to docs - they said because there are no bald spots - therefore it cant be a thyroid problem... Shall i get a second opinion?

Havent started any medication recently and i only have one relative who has gone past NW3.

Thanks.

Been dealing with the same thing for the past year. My hair pulls out so easily, like cotton candy, sides back front ect. I also loose 10-20 eyebrows per day. Needless to say I have been to tons of dr. and derms and they dont know sh*t. I loose at least 200 per day. It is diffuse loss so many people think Im nuts. Its now getting noticable. Did you take any antibiotics or medications

Nope havent been on any medication for a long time. Cant see any trigger for this either. The hairs that are coming out are just thick terminal hairs, not minaturised at all or less pigmented. I think a lot of docs are taught that if hair loss isnt in patches then its just male pattern baldness, and therefore have no time for it. I dont think hairs can 'suddenly' become sensitive to DHT, it would take a very rapid change in cell structure and receptor protein production. I think its more likely some other chemical is affecting/stopping the growth.
