Is that no matter how good ur day was, at the end of it ur gonna go home, go to ur restroom window and look in absolute disgust at what u see

I hate that feeling, that soul sucking sadness that accompanies being literally faced with the full visual extent of this disease

What you see in the mirror is up to you.
Do you see a bald loser in the mirror or do you see a badass bald character in the mirror?

Badass not physically, but because of other skills.

Eg., do you see Ted from Scrubs, or Lex Luthor, or Prof Xavier?

Im not tall enough or strong enough to be either

I look weird with a shaved head anyways, even if the hair loss isnt noticeable right now

U can wear all the most hip clothes, listen to ur emo music, "live it up" at the club, but rly ur just a prematurely old guy walking around in an uncaring universe.

Deficient in looks, youth and reminiscent of a victim of the second leadin cause of death.

I've referenced this study about happiness done by MIT a few times but their conclusion is that everybody has a 'baseline' level of contentment in their life that they can spike up and down from but always return too.

They studied thousands of people (40,000 I think it was), who over time included lottery winners, people who had been disabled in car crashes, people who had kids and I guess people who had all sorts of life changing events happen. As I say the concluded that everybody just got used to their new situation over time and became as content as they always had been.

There was one big exception though, it seems people cannot ever get used to changes in their appearance. They had people who had plastic surgery, who showed their happiness levels going up instantly afterwards and then over time remained consistently higher, even the lottery winners couldnt maintain the happiness levels of the people who improved their appearance.

On the flip side they had people who were burned or disfigured, who never got used to their new looks, at no point did they ever recover from the damage emotionally. The study found that you were more likely to recover emotionally from losing a limb than being burned.

MIT couldn't explain the anomaly with regards to never getting used to your appearance, there could be a million different reasons why your appearance significantly effects us they said, it stands alone as a life change that can affect us for our entire lives though.

It's why I still see guys in their 60s, 70s etc norwood spotting, they must be still looking in the mirror every night and wondering where it all went wrong, regardless of what they show the rest of the world.

I really wish I could find the video I watched.

I cant remember what its title was, the section where they talked about peoples base level of happiness was just part of another lecture that was being given.

Dude, Prof Xavier is a cripple. Power does not just mean physically strong. Develop your brain.
That is in fact one of the reasons I like Lex Luthor. A mere mortal battling a god.

Hip clothes etc are absolutely the wrong thing to do when bald(ing). You basically are now competing on the turf of 35 year old men, that it, in the domain of achievment and power. Fortunately women go nuts for this kind of stuff (they cannot help it biologically).

On a related note, its a lost case with almost all 16-24 years old girls who are youth obsessed.

'God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change'. Baldness is one of those. It's unfair but we have to get on with our lives.

I said "almost all" :D

But currently yes, attractive 16-24 year olds have a lot of better options. If however you become successful, then 6-7 years later, you will have a better shot at the under 20s.

So I would recommend work like mad, and choose a profession where there are women, who can see your success in the workplace and thus cant help being attracted to you. Or, want to use you to get ahead themselves.

And make me wise enough to know the difference. Maybe in the 1940's you could not do anything about baldness, it's not the case in 2013:

- Medications: Minoxidil, Finasteride
- Hair transplants: FUT, FUE
- Scalp micro-pigmentation: SMP, MHT
- High quality concealers: Dermmatch, Nanofibres
- Undetectable hairpieces

Avoid spreading hopelessness, especially in this section :p.

I most certainly wasn't trying to spread hopelessness and I sincerely apologize if I gave that impression.

In fact, I am very optimistic and I believe that a cure is near.

I was jus trying to say that despair is never a solution. Yes, baldness sucks but it's not a life threatening condition

Not a solution but a natural response to an unfortunate condition. Processing these emotions of despair is equally important and this section is for just that.

I don't think so. Unless you have leadership skills and scream confidence then you will not really geniuenly attract a young girl.

I don't think so. Unless you have leadership skills and scream confidence then you will not really geniuenly attract a young girl.

That's the thing though, people who are genuinely successful in their professional life almost always DO scream confidence and have leadership skills. They're always completely at ease with themselves and comfortable in their own skin, knowing regardless of how bad or good they look physically, they are achieving everything they possibly can from their lives and are confident and happy around all people as a result.

As long as you're reasonably good looking, with some decent, redeeming facial features, then baldness can only take away so much from your looks, it can't take away everything, providing of course you weren't ugly to begin with. Don't get me wrong, you won't look like the boy band member you did when you were 18, but assuming you take care of all other areas of your appearance and life, the social and the professional, you will still be seen as a reasonably attractive adult male in real world standards (real world not Hollywood!)

The problem is a lot of guys don't take care of their social life or where they're going with their professional career when they're young, then a few years down the line, when they're stuck with a sh*tty job and little or no friends, they suddenly try to blame everything on hair loss because their confidence has hit floor and they need a scapegoat for life's failures... I no myself, I've been there in the past and it's very evident from a lot of the posts on this forum too.

Easy sex wont happen for you unless you care about your career.

Easy sex only comes to males if they are extremely handsome, or extremely rich, of which you are neither.
