What does DHT do? Effects of reduced DHT?

Hi,

I have read that 1mg of Finasteride reduces blood DHT by 70%.

I want to know exactly what DHT does, what it impacts. Anyone know (other than male pattern baldness). I don't want to take Propecia until I know exactly what DHT's purpose in the body is. Here is what I've found so far:

- Secondary sex characteristics during puberty
- Enlarged prostate
- Anti-estrogen effect
- Libido and erections
- Muscle generation

I also would like to know how the percentage reduction in blood levels of DHT by taking Proscar (5mg daily) to compare its effect with Propecia.

I'm just worried about messing with my body's hormones.

id like to know the answer to this aswell. i recently turned 18 and am skeptical about taking it despite people saying you should be fine after 18
