I'm absolutely no expert but I'm just a few years older than you and had a similar hairline at 16/17 - I didn' start treatments until my 19th bday. I would ask you a few questions to see if you should start or not

Have you noticed any hair thinning at all, namely at the crown?
Would you say that you are fully developed physically? Meaning are you finished or at least at the end of puberty

If the answer is no to crown thinning then, personally, I would hold off for a while but closely monitor your hair with pictures; if you notice any thinning/further recession in this time frame then absolutely start treatments from then asap.

Overall, I would say hold off on starting finasteride if you can, you want to make sure that you are fully developed physically and not starting a serious drug like finasteride when you don't actually need to_Ofcourse start asap if you are experiencing crown thinning - I regret not doing this.

Hmm I'd say that your crown is thinning from that evidence, not noticeable at all but it is just starting to go. I would monitor it closely

I'm 20 now and I'm nw2/2.5 with crown thinning. Here are some pics

Also, up to nw3, styling is huge for creating an illusion. I wear a little concealer in my crown and style my hair so I can almost resemble nw1:

This is my hairstyle now. Im basically just covering up hairline
I don't think you'e in a position where you need to take it, you can afford to monitor it with pictures for a few months and see if there's any progression

If you'd rather get on it right now though then go ahead

id recommend microdosing and tapering on it to start: I took a quarter tab for the first month and then onto a half tab. I take a half tab currently.

Also where are you from if you don't mind? I'm from scotland and boots offer it on a prescription service in the UK

You don't have a widows peak, or any peak on your hairline for that matter.

That makes me think that maybe you're a slow balder?

The temples, possibly, but they don't look suspicious to me.
So people without widows peak tend to bald slower?

Yea i thought of taking 0.5 mg for first year or so.
I'm from Slovenia and i'd need to either pay 60euros for derm or wait 6months and even then i'm not sure i'd get prescribtion.
I'd prefer to buy it online but i don't know where

I wouldn't bother micro dosing , it's a hassle and I'm pretty sure it's not worth the effort.

I started finasteride at the age of 18 and haven't had any sides. I also haven't had any regrowth either.

If I was you I would just watch it and jump on finasteride when it either gets worse or when you turn 18/19.

But ultimately your hair looks amazing I would love mine to be that thick.

Your hairline is almost a straight line across.

Usually when guys start receding, it starts going in a triangular form. And the temples
go first, most of the time, then inward.

I really don't think you have baldness. Not yet

@Johnt1997 ; what is your regimen brah ?
any result with minoxidil? how long have you been on it ?
I'm on 12.5% minoxidil and 5% minoxidil, one in the morning and one at night. Half a tab of propecia daily. Been on minoxidil since April 2016 and finasteride since Sep 2016. Recently started dermarolling weekly with 1mm

I've had decent thickening at the crown, still noticeable but much improved on where it was, nothing of significance at hairline
