Started Nizoral 1% about four days ago planning on buying 2% soon

just got a prescription to Propecia plan on starting it soon

but..

my doctor could not stress Minoxidil enough

he was suggesting I try Minoxidil first before using Propecia

should I first start with Minoxidil and see where that takes me and if I dont see good results then move on to Propecia?

or should I start Propecia today and start Minoxidil at a later date or at the same time?

and when I start using Minoxidil what kind do you recommend(foam/liquid/other)?

hope you guys can help and thank you

I'd get on propecia and nizoral first mate, then see how you go. You may not need minoxidil just yet and if you can avoid having to put that on your noggin twice a day your regimen will be much easier.

How old are you?

I would start with minoxidil since it is more harmless.

You could try minoxidil -

But - You should also keep in mind ...

... that once you start minoxidil - You should never stop -or all the growth gained from minoxidil will just shed after a few months.

***

I for one - is trying my best to avoid minoxidil because of this.

I actually started to use a popular hair-loss product from Asia called Kaminomoto. ( More info on the experimental section of the forum) and after a week of using it - Im already seeing these small hairs growing on my bare temples - I cant believe it myself ... Ive always thought that I was born with no hair on that specific region ... and there it was O_O ...

Same thing with finasteride, once you stop you will lose everything you gained/attained.

It is a lot less hassle popping a pill every morning. Absolutely no effort and no effect on your daily activities.

But not to Denrir... :smack:

He made it sound like its not the case with finasteride and a newbie may not know that

Hey, my doctor also told me to get on minoxidil first and ive been on it for three years now. Personally i think its a better option as a first line drug because the sides associated with minoxidil arent as serious as those with propecia. Right now I'm rotating foam in the morning and liquid at night...i think this works well b/c foam isnt messy and goes on easily, but some say liquid is better so i use that at night! Take your pick...

If I were you, I would get on propecia and nizoral and forget about minoxidil. I used the foam for a year when I first noticed my hair loss and it caused me to shed massive amounts of hair where I applied it at (temples). Honestly I wished I'd never touched the stuff.

I know people have had good results with minoxidil but for me, it made things worse. I think using minoxidil on the hairline/temples is a huge gamble; things could go either way.
