What the heck is it ???

Question: Sometimes when a hair falls out of my head there will be some kind of small white colored thing on the end. I'd describe it as a bulb, nodule, molecular material bit. Does anyone know exactly what the heck it is ? I used to think it was the hair root, but hair doesn't have roots, they have follicles. I hope it's not the follicle. Follicles don't fall out right, they just shrink ? Is it residue sebum, oil, skin ?

An answer would be greatly appreciated. The mystery must be solved !!

This is normal. Hair that is shed naturally often have small white bulbs at one end. Hair will regrow where these hairs where lost.

A hair that falls out on its own (because of male pattern baldness) will have a rather small bulb on the end (consistent with miniaturization of the follicle). A healthy, growing hair that's yanked out will have a much larger bulb...at least for me.

Yup, exactly. It's not a problem. Just the hair "bulb," not the follicle.

I've heard there are people who have yanked out every whisker on their face, and they all have huge bulbs on the end. And yet, the little bastar&s all grew back.

You're fine.

I have asked about this in the past, and the response was basically you can't tell much of anything about the hair and its health if there is a bulb or not. Thats my opinion.
