What's the point of finasteride? dutasteride can legitimately halt hairloss forever.

Let's see here, dutasteride does all of this better than finasteride:

- reducing scalp DHT
- reducing serum DHT
- regrowth
- maintenance
- increasing testosterone
- reducing acne

There is no point to Finasteride whatsoever. If you're going to try halting and or reversing hairloss you go all out, you don't half-*** with a mediocre DHT inhibitor that at best halts hair loss for only a few years. This is the key: Dutasteride 0.5mg a day until you die, some sort of growth stimulator and saving for a FUE transplant ($10,000) that's how everyone should approach hair loss. Also, none of these herbal remedy and zinc and biotin supplements baloney. That does nothing.

yes dutasteride probably is the most powerful weapon against male pattern baldness, but it's not necessarily true that finasteride is only effective for a few years. There's no real reason why finasteride should 'wear off' after a time. I've read accounts of people here who say they've maintained well on Propecia for 15 years.

oh and increasing testosterone isn't necessarily a good thing - it could lead to an increase in estrogen/estradiol

I'm giving dutasteride a shot (added .5mg) with my 1.25 daily finasteride routine. We will see how things go as I have been shedding for the past 3 months.

But - my question is - with only 3 posts, why are you pumping dutasteride so much? Something seems wierd about that

Isn't the issue with dutasteride a far greater risk of sides. Also lack of studies for using it for male pattern baldness? I wouldn't be in any rush to jump on it, but then finasteride has sorted me out, and I've been on it for 4 and a half years :)
