Why is my hair still thin?

Firstly, I'm a male. My natural hair is semi-thick.

So it all started a year and half ago, when I began to straighten my hair. About 4 months ago I stopped, because I noticed my hair was really thin and damaged. I had not been protecting my hair with spray for about 3/4 of the time I was straightening my hair. So my hair is thin throughout the first half of my hair (beginning at the forehead). Also, my hairline is still the same as it was before I straightened my hair.

For those past 4 months I've been using Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and their daily supplements. I see no changes. I thought when I saw any hair fall out at this point that half would be thick and half would be thin (I haven't cut my hair in fear that the thinning hair would be easier to see). But all I see are mostly thin hairs from the top and front of my head, and some thick hair from the back of my head.

I'm not stressed of anything like that, my diet really hasn't changed. So I'm not sure why I still have thin hair? Or is just that my hair began to natural thin out during the straightening?

Any comments on this would be very appreciated.

Its almost certainly just natural thinning. Your hair is effected by your genetics not what you do. How old are you and what is the hair of your male relatives like?
