Will I get the same results with .5 mg as I would with 1mg?

Just started finasteride...yesterday was my first day. From your experiences will I get the same results using .5mg instead of 1mg. Trying to save money! Also, when should I expect these sheds to occur from finasteride?

I did feel a strange sensation between my manhood and butt...almost a numbing feeling in that muscle you can contract....any ideas?

There was a study done at the University of Pennsylvania that demonstrated that 0.25 was nearly as effective at lowering DHT as 1 mg. It was petitioned that the FDA should reduce the standard Propecia dose. The FDA countered that serum DHT was not the only consideration and that dosage had been calculated based on clinical results. THIS IS VAST paraphrasing, but, in short, a smaller dose than 1 mg is likely effective. I am currently taking 0.25 mg daily but plan to increase it to 0.50 mg within the next two weeks.

Dr. Rassman of Baldingblog.com claims that 0.5 mg is 80% effective as 1 mg. I am not sure where he gets this figure.

Perhaps Bryan could help me out here as he is the resident guru on the pharmacokinetics of finasteride. :)

Getting good results having worked up to 0.5mg of finasteride daily.

I have no reason to increase from this dosage anytime soon.

If you want to save money get a precription for Proscar (generic) and cut it in 1/4's. mY insurance covers mine and I pay $20 for 90 generic proscar from CVS so i pay $20 for a years supply of finasteride

Even if your insurance doesn't cover it you will save money

You're a piece of work. Your insurance does not cover it for that purpose. This is a mild version of insurance fraud. No insurance covers elective cosmetic treatment for your hairloss. That is what this is.

Your insurance company thinks it was prescribed for BPH. And you know that.

And your point is ?

You are wrong , some health insurance does cover propecia (not mine) but I have heard guys on other forums say theirs does and yes I questioned it.

My insurance companies negotiated price for Generic proscar is $52 for 90 pills. I pay the $20 so I'm "ripping them off " for a whole $32 a year. Call the feds !!!!

Why don't you preach to all of the Dr's who are performing the real insurance fraud Mr Future MD ?
