Worst hair colour for crown thinners?

Hi

I'm experiencing considerable thinning on my crown (among other place- but only noticeable on the crown) and I'm thinking that I probably have the worst hair colour for hair loss (it's darker brown but not quite DARK brown).

Does anyone have an opinion on this? I think I may want to change hair colour to do a better job of hiding the loss but to what do I change it? I know it's common to bleach your hair (i.e. colour it blonde) but I'm not sure whether that's really the way to go.

Any advice is appreciated.

hey topper, i'm in the exact same position as you. diffused thinner with the worst on the crown areas. i have dark brown, but not black. the thin hairs all over my crown are a light brown, some almost golden blonde, so it makes the thinnig very obvious. i'm actually consdering bleaching my hair blonde to see how it looks like and to conceal the thinning crown (blends all the hair one color, and blonde hair matches the scalp more than dark hair). what color were you thinking of?

Yeah, AMS, I'm thinking blonde. You're right- my hair is also far lighter in my thinning areas too, drawing even more attention to the bald spot.

I'm thinking blonde colouring would make the hair consistent (before the crown gets absolutely out of control) but having come from a relatively dark brown start, I'm worried that people are just going to see through my drastic colour change and say "he's fighting baldness". Heck, that's even MORE embarrassing to me.

It's all about perception at this point, I guess, since nothing topical seems to be working. I'm almost forced into changing colour. Would jet black be such a bad idea you think?

Cheers

although i haven't seen pics of your crown, i can definately relate to your situation, and i'm guessing people can already notice your thinning crown. i'm at the point where i'm saying "well, who gives a fu*k if they think i'm going bald, i am!". yeah, i'm bleaching my hair to conceal the thinning areas, but i'm also doing it because my hair would look a hell of a lot better without this huge thinning area on top of my head. all of us living with male pattern baldness have to come to terms that this is happening to us, and there's nothing we can do to stop it, just slow it down a little. i don't know how old you are, but i see a ton of guys my age with signs of male pattern baldness (i'm 25), so i'm accepting that this natural occurence.
as for black hair, and this is my own opinion, i think it looks awful on people with male pattern baldness. black hair is also tricky, because if you don't already have natural black hair, then it only really looks good on people with light skin and straight hair.
