Growing up i was use to bald/balding people like my dad was was balding (still is) my uncle was bald (cause of male pattern baldness) or i liked cool bald people like stone cold (im a wrestling fan since i was a kid) so it was never weird for me...when i started to lose it i was scared what others thought...as you all know im past it now but i never hated the look.

Same here! I didn't take it as easy as you, torturing my family with "is my bald spot worse??" incessantly haha. Im good now though, just don't want to waste time worrying about it.

Its not just the bald head. Its the demeanour, height, size, the goatee, fair skin, unusual facial features, and being ginger....as mentioned being bald is the catalyst.

Imagine you had procession after procession of insults by strangers(and not just about youre lack of hair) for years, then it would affect you deeply, as the aforementioned incident clearly did(or else you wouldnt have relayed it on here).

No, not at all, and I must say that I've never been mocked by people from my country. Like one of my best friend said "that incident with the British guys singing was the hardest time you got in your life for being bald". And that's true, I don't see anyone treating me differently since I've reached the NW5 stage. If anything, people respect me more since I've gone bald, things are better with the ladies too.
I think the problem in the end is just yourself. I am the one feeling inferior, I am the one feeling less than. I'm so insecure sometimes I ask my friends "how do I look?" and they'll reply "same as usual Fred!" I don't know about UCman, maybe it's the attitude. I often laugh about it, I was in a clothes store with my best friend the other day, I look at myself in the mirror and I'm like "Nope, still no hair" and the lady next to me burst out laughing. I don't think there is that much of a stigma against baldness in Belgium. People won't judge you if you're bald, I knew how I felt when I was 16, I didn't know bald people existed. I saw bald men but the fact that they were bald didn't even cross my mind. And people close to me that are not affected by hair loss think the same way.

I'd be more unhappy about having 1 old-man friend, NO camera and NO TV more than being bald any day. So what you should be doing instead of hating yourself for your weird facial hair and/or lack of hair is finding some friends who'd like you for YOU. It's not that hard. Also, get a job so you can buy a TV... you're missing out on some great entertainment.

Thanks for youre continued judgement and support. Firstly I am grown man and have worked all my life, thus can afford to buy anything I desire(especially being single). Secondly I dont want any "friends", I cant stand humans, I just want to be able too walk anywhere and be left along. Thirdly, who said I have "weird" facial hair. There is a myriad of reasons why people insult my facial hair:because its ginger/blond, because Im bald(fully), because I have full coverage, because I grow it thick, because its a goatee etc etc etc................next.

I don't know your father and I have no idea why he said this but it is totally unacceptable. This is gratuitous, offensive and far worse than corporal punishment. You simply DO NOT say this to a child. There's nothing educational about these remarks, they're just obnoxious and mean.
Maybe this was some sort of (stupid) joke but that doesn't make it less despicable.
(My mother was much worse, she kept reminding how ugly I was and when I started losing my hair at 17, she often made these mean remarks about it).
I am a teacher and I witness this kind of crap everyday, it's appalling what those kids have to go through at home.

Sure, that's not a loaded question.... asking someone you already know hasn't experienced much ridicule if they have experienced any ridicule for being bald. You know you are going to get an answer that supports your stance.

LOL, UCM, you got me. Regardless, I still respect your feelings and wish your life would have turned out better without the balding gene. I am glad you found a women who understands you. You are fortunate to have a child that I am sure loves you even with your baldness. I am sure in real life, you actually are very interesting to converse with intelligent conversation. I can see by the way you express yourself you are very articulate. I know our worlds are different but I still respect you and all your thoughts.

I'd need to see a pic of the facial hair. Apologies if it's already been covered, but if you've worked your entire life, have plenty of money etc can't you afford a smartphone?
Personally I have a pretty pathetic amount of facial hair(yay propecia) which I grow out because I always wanted facial hair. I doubt anyone is impressed by it and I see enviable amounts of facial hair all the time, but I like the way it looks.. pretty sure everyone else can **** off.

I have no desire to bow down to the media-driven, commercialised, man-made bull**it, hence why I wont buy a smartphone. Hell, I run a basic car, have my own gym equipment, and thats it. Maybe its just a romantic, naive notion, but I long to live a nomadic life, in some ways(within the constrainsts(spelling?) of modern life) I am achieving this by living in my car, and only interacting with humans at work.
Regarding my facial hair. I have great coverage, and thus density on my chin, lip, sideburns(cheek line alittle low!), so no-one can say its not proper facial hair, or its wispy, bum-fluff etc

Without getting all liberal, and middle-class, I am a big believer in how ones childhood was, largely determines how that person is as an adult. Now dont get me wrong. My parents had me young, grew up in a rough area, and tried their best with me, installing common decency, manners etc, you know basic traits that any human should have.
I think with my father, he had/has a reputation as a bit of a so called "hard man". Smothers his body with tatoos, the generic bald head, goatee, stocky build. Also an ex footaball thug, ex bouncer, supporter of the EDL/BNP. Treats me like one of his retard mates, forgetting I am his son. Threatened me multiple times for some ridiculous minor things, such as kicking a bin in frustration. Doesnt like it, you see, that I am now bigger than he is. Sees me(along with everybody else) as a challenge. Asked him once, considering you are such a so called big, hard man, why do you bring me up to be soft. He response was, he wanted me too have manners, be decent and so forth, which I think largely he has succeeded. Although the flip side is, I let people take the pi** too much, dont like the aggro. Perhaps thats why I whine so much!
I see good entertainment everytime I step outside the door and watch the inept actions of my fellow homo-erectuses.

Why should he get cable? So he can watch commercials make fun of him? So he can see how our type is villainized and made out to be loosers in movies and shows?
