Never realised you were close to 40 notcool, I guess your hairloss was somewhat slow considering it took that long to reach this point I guess, considering you only got on treatments for like over a year? I find it very interesting how your style your hair, how you've created a sought of widdows peak. Looks good dude, you get any comments or anyoe notice?

Yup almost 40, maybe I should start acting like it around here. Not sure if I would consider my hair loss all that slow. I started around 22, but if you look at my baseline pics I was in pretty bad shape by the time I decided to treat my hair loss. I kind of like the way I have been styling my hair, but I wish I had more options besides the "messy" hair style. Nobody has made a comment about it up until this point.

What I don't undesrtand is why don't most people start their hairloss treatment when it becomes evidently noticeable? Just wondering why you didn't start treatment earlier notcoolanymore?? Naivity/ignorance or the fact that it didn't occur to you that you were losing hair? Hmm

I went to see a doctor when I was in my mid 20's, I had only been losing hair for a couple of years at that point. The doctor said there was nothing that I can do. I accepted that and tried the snake oils and other garbage which obviously did nothing. I buzzed my head and just accepted my fate for years. It wasn't until I saw myself on video and saw the extent of my hair loss that I decided I needed to see what I could do. I researched and found this and other hair loss sites, got the facts about what options were available and went from there. I finally saw another doctor about 2 years ago and he too said there was nothing that I can do. I had to practically push him into writing me a script for finasteride.

So yeah, I would say ignorance and idiot doctors kept me from treating my hair loss early enough. That is why I preach to use treatments that actually work. Too much BS information out there that just isn't true.

Been growing my hair out for the past few months. This is the way I have been styling it for the past couple of months. I know it's ridiculous, but it is what it is. Keep in mind, the crown is still very thin. I just wanted to give you guys a view from the front, the way most people see me.

Thanks. I guess you can say I did have a good response. Crown hasn't thickened up like I had hoped, still very thin. And no I don't mean a small quarter sized thinning in the center of the swirl, I mean thinning all over my crown. The pic didn't capture my gray hair for some reason, I have many of them. Another thing I noticed is that my hair is darker than it used to be. For the longest time I had dark brown hair. Now it almost looks black. WTH!

It could be the Minoxidil since it does help to make hair grow thicker, longer, stronger, and even darker, and also helps to keep hair from falling out so easily. I'm sure it's the Minoxidil helping your hair color, though, I could be wrong.

Just seen this, I know you hate me but great results, congrats. Is your hair thin on the front? Looks strong so I'm assuming you gained very good thickness on that area.

Twice a day, morning and night, and I use the recommended dose all over the top of my head.

Haha, I had to look up some of your old posts, didn't remember who you were. Don't hate you at all. Just didn't see any hair loss in your pics, but hey we all have to start somewhere. I am sure if I came here at 23 and showed my pics I would have gotten crap too. If you are losing your hair it is good that you are getting educated early.

As far as the hair, it is pretty thin throughout the top, although better than it was when I started. Crown is pretty bad though.

Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying the summer. Just wanted to give you guys a quick update. I haven't been spending too much time around here lately. Just decided to take a bit of a break from the forums for the summer. I still come here from time to time to see what's going on, but don't spend hours every week on here like before. BTW congrats to the new admins. I have seen Wolfpack putting in work to keep the anti propecia trolls in check. It's about time that **** got under control. But no I am not leaving the forums, just spending some time doing other things and enjoying the summer a bit.

On to the hair loss stuff:

I have officially dropped LLLT. Just didn't see much of a difference at all. All I am currently using at the moment is the big 3. I did change the type of finasteride that I am taking. For close to 2 years I was taking fincar that I picked up from inhousepharmacy. I am now getting my stuff from a local pharmacy. I only mention this because I have heard reports of guys losing hair after switching finasteride manufacturers. I will keep you guys updated on any changes positive or negative.

Also I have noticed that when shampooing my hair that I lose anywhere from about 30 - 50 hairs each time. This has been going on for a few months now. I honestly don't know if this is normal daily hair loss, a shed, or further hair loss, but looking at my hair in the mirror I really cannot tell much of a difference in the density of my hair. Not much else to report. Crown is still pretty thin and see through. Pretty sure finasteride has done everything it can do at this point. Just trying to hold ground until possibly better treatment options become available.

Hi, notcool, thanks for the update and wishes. I think it's admin's aim to keep natural and anti propecia trolls under control. It does put off newbies and they can't make informed choices on treatment. It would be sad to see vulnerable people not being able to decide for themselves accurately. I do miss you actually engaging with the trolls and putting them in place in your unique way! Good to see you will still stick around and that your hair is holding on. In regards to shedding, I have always been up and down even before finasteride. We all have slightly different cycles and also seasonal shedding.

If you're not losing density in any particular area and the hair itself doesn't look weaker, it's probably okay. Plus I think minoxidil users can get synchronised shedding. I know you're in the maintenance phase now so hopefully you will keep doing well until something better comes up. If it really bothers you, you could have a transplant in weak areas if time/finance permits. Higher dose of Minoxidil, Dutasteride are other options.

Notcool, I also have decided to take a break from laser. It's just not worth the hassle vs the return for somewhat a very minimal thicker appearance if even that.

On the finasteride topic, I was using a generic brand for the last year and decided to switch back to the original after speaking to my Doctor who advised against using generic as he believes that generic is less potent than the original. After switching back, boy could I feel the difference. I felt as if I was taking finasteride again for the first time. I hope this means the more potent the better the results.

I have been enjoying the Summer, of course my hair loss bothers me every single day and is on my mind often no matter how much I try to manage this genetic disorder. Yes, I have noticed that you haven't been on here as much as you usually are, but still come in to see how things have been going. And yes, the anti Propecia trolls who come in here are now kept in check.

I myself also officially dropped LLLT, the benefits are just too little for treating Androgenetic Alopecia and made almost no difference at actually treating the condition. Believe it or not, but my laser comb actually broke recently after having it for over three years! Since you've been pretty much using the Big Three the whole time, your hair should maintain in the longterm since it seems like treatments have been working well for you. I'm sure it is definitely so much easier to get your Finasteride from your local pharmacy than going through the hassle of buying the medication online. I have read about men starting to lose hair again after switching Finasteride manufacturers, and I myself personally remain skeptical about that since it shouldn't make any difference whatsoever since it's the exact same medicine. But anyhow, thanks that you'll keep us updated on any changes from the switch, whether positive or negative.

When I shampoo my hair, I still have hair falling out but much less, no where as much as before I started any legitimate treatments. Since you've been growing your hair out lately according to what I've read from your posts, it could give the 'illusion' that you're losing more hair, when actually is that the strands are longer, making the hair that falls out more noticeable. I personally believe that's what it is since you mentioned when looking at your hair in the mirror, you aren't able to tell much of any difference in density really of your hair. Other than that, hopefully you should be able to maintain in the longterm until better treatment options become available.

Just as a recommendation, you could always try incorporating RU58841 into your regimen and see if you shed even less hair. As you're aware which I'm sure of, I'm on a regimen of Dutasteride and RU58841 combined together, and even with that, I still shed a decent amount of hair, but doesn't keep getting worse, if anything, is probably improving very slowly.
