Considering Spironolactone 200 Mg A Day

It's a very powerful anti androgen. It shuts down testosterone production in the testes and also blocks the androgen receptors from receiving testosterone and DHT. It can cause gyno and reversible infertility. Its not something I would use If you are getting results from dutasteride, I only ended up using it after exhausting many other options. Oral minoxidil thickens all hairs on your body, not just where you apply it. I've never used topical minoxidil so I can't say much about that, but I do believe oral is a lot more effective.

Do you know where I can get oral minoxidil?

Btw, I have a question about minoxidil (for both oral and topical). Do those regrow thicker hairs or only the miniaturized hairs you already have?

I'm still thinking about the decision. Most likely I won't go on spironolactone.

male pattern baldness is just driving me crazy. I never got side effects from dutasteride, so sometimes I let myself believe that I won't get sides from spironolactone as well, which is kinda a foolish thought and cocky of me.

Before I created an account here, I think 2-3 years ago, I read many posts of an old user named "Bryan" (unfortunately he passed away and he will always be remembered). Even though I didn't know him well, I found his posts interesting and accurate. Recently I came across an old topic regarding the usage of oral spironolactone. He had a discussion with an another user about testosteron levels and oral spironolactone at 200 mg. According to Bryan, based on the oral spironolactone 200 mg study in Greece, which you can find in my OP as well, there were no marked changes in endocrine parameters".

Here's a reference: No marked changes in the endocrine parameters were observed as a result of treatment, with serum testosterone being slightly elevated in one of the female patients both of whom had polycystic ovary syndrome. A marked reduction in the rate of daily hair loss and an improvement in the trichogram score were noted during treatment, in all 4 cases, but with a partial relapse following its cessation (Table 1).

Even though there were only two males, I still find it rather fascinating.

So oral spironolactone 200 mg definitely lowers T levels, but not to female levels. That's why certain MtF people use, for example estrogen, estradiol, medroxyprogesterone, etc, along with oral spironolactone during their transition to really reach female levels.

The only thing I don't get is why 13 % of oral spironolactone users get gynaecomastia. Do they get it when they use it along with HRT, so the full package?

Some people are more prone to gyno. I have slight gyno from puberty that never went away (probably should have done some testing).

I will get gyno surgery too, if I ever get gyno from dutasteride.

Hmm, good question. I really couldn’t tell you. All I know is my gynos been unchanged since I was about 17. I think if you get gym from treatment it has to stop at one point right? You wouldn’t grow a D cup from dutasteride so I’m sure it must stop.

I never used finasteride, but before dutasteride I was considering it.

First 2 months I finally got stabilisation/halt of further hair loss. After 4 months I got some thickening and after 7 months I got even more thickening and some regrowth. I hope I get even better results, so I don't have to take the oral spironolactone route.

I’m considering switching to dutasteride, it’s almost been 3 months on finasteride and I’m still losing. Definitely well below baseline, could just be shedding though so I don’t know what to do...

All my loss is recent though so I’m hoping I can get these follicles working again. I had very thick hair only 6 months ago.​

I think you need to give it more time. I think you will notice results around 6-8 months or even after 1 year.

Very poor. My hair feels extremely light now, and I’m diffusing thinning pretty badly. I’ve seen a lot of success stories of people being below baseline at 3 months only to go above baseline a few months later so I try to keep some faith.

I’d like to add minoxidil but worried about increased shedding lol. Why aren’t you on minoxidil?

I'm also scared of a possible minoxidil shed. I'm afraid my dutasteride gains will vanish. I read a lot of positive things about oral minoxidil, though.

Ever thought of increasing your current dosage? If finas doesn't work out, then you can always go for dutas.
