What does my regimen say? I can’t find it on this new layout. I have tried it all.
I’m currently taking only Proscar and RU. Those results were also only Proscar,RU and some microneedling and minoxidil.
RU does work. I think when I first took it I noticed my libido was lower, but that passes. Sometimes it causes mild mild micro gyno, but that could be finasteride idk.

Ohhh it says Aldactone.. I took Aldactone. Idk if it worked really. I def had more hair on it, but that was also 3 years ago. Aldactone is exhausting because you’re always tired and thirsty on it as it is a diuretic. It never really reduced my sebhorrea which made me question its efficacy for me, personally. Now, if Aldactone/spironolactone works for you — that’s amazing. It’s not a strong feminising agent. Anyone who suggests otherwise hasn’t tried it OR has less sensitive AR than I do

Yes I’m just on 5mg finasteride, 10% min and RU. Microneedling kind of. Vitamins whatever

About to be 30. I’ve been on only RU and Proscar since September. But with that being said, I have tried every anti-androgen (love it or hate it) — and this was the most effective combo for me in a long long time. I was on only finasteride in 2019, and I felt like I just lost density — now looking back I think I was relatively stable. I tried dutasteride - it just made me oilier and hornier, so I thought those weren’t good signs. I tried a low dose of Cyrpoterone, which I thought would be perfect because I still had low normal male T, but maybe the low E (Cypro reduces both) caused more hair loss during that period of 9 months

I don’t think so — RU has a strong binding affinity. If your receptors upregulate, it shouldn’t matter because RU is blocking the site of action. If suddenly you developed bad seb derm, and started breaking out on RU — this would be a conversation about upregualtion.

Idk man — it worked like magic month 1 to 3, then I started the worst shed I’ve ever had in a long *** time.
I didn’t believe it was real for a while and did this as a last ditch lark... it dried out my scalp for sure, which was oily. I also use minoxidil. I’m currently back to square 1 :/ maybe the pre mixed bottles don’t last long? I get them from chemyo

I saw a transplant surgeon last week and she was irritatingly very adamant that I just regrow this hair. I was like lady — every so many months since I was about 19 my crown sheds unpredictably and I don’t know what actually reactivates it

Since I was 19/ 20.. it’s been too long. Too many years of this crap

Been on RU + minoxidil for almost 1 year. 50 mg/day applied topically once daily for both.

- Month 2 my shedding halted completely - I went from shedding 60-100 hairs in the shower to practically zero.
- Month 2 to 6, zero shedding and impressive increase in hair growth. My hair grew in denser than it had in many years. Many people actually commented that my hair looked darker. Interestingly, my hair got sort of curly during this time which was strange because I had always had straight hair.
- Month 7 I started shedding again, about the same rate as I did before starting treatment - 60-100 hairs per shower
- Month 7 to 11 gradual decrease in density as the shedding took it's toll. All curly hairs grown during months 2 to 6 are gone and my hair started to turn straight again.

At this point I'm pretty sure I'm at exactly the same place that I started.

No side effects that I'm aware of. For the first 2 months, the topical solution made my scalp dry and flaky but that subsided entirely.

Not sure if the RU is actually doing anything or if everything I've experienced is a result of the minoxidil.

Long time finasteride user (15+ years), no minoxidil. Noticed increased shedding and diffused thinning again in late 2019. Started premixed RU in mid 2020.
I experience the same rollercoaster as @Ausgebombt, @KSA and others.
Right after starting RU: the infamous itch went away - still virtually non-existent.
1-3 months: shedding decreased.
4-5 months: gradual increase in density, very slight regrowth at temples.
6-7 months: loss of density once again, increase in shedding, thin and wispy hairs ONLY!
8+ months (current situation): less shedding - mainly thicker hairs again. Slow increase in density once again, but not sure about its lasting effect.

Sounds like AR upregulation. Try take 3 months off ru before starting up again or you could try upping the dose to 100 mg ed.
