Minoxidil, nizoral and why not topical zix? Its an old topical dht blocker that some guys report good results from. That will biy him some time until breezula comes out or other methods are available. Messing with hormones is not something to be taken lightly, but dutasteride is madness...

Don't worry about it. I shed like a complete dog when i started finasteride. I shed quite a bit before starting it and loads after starting it. 2-3 months into treatment my shedding was much better than before I started it. Relax, it's gonna be fine ^^

The bare minumum is around 6 months to be able to tell if finasteride is working for you. Shedding when starting treatment is a good sign. Cut your hair short and forget about it until then. I think you have a great chance of thickening up existing hair. You might also see good regrowth from the minoxidil. The first months will probably cause shedding initially but ride it out and you will most likely see results. Improvement comes very gradual so give it at least 6-12 months...

@worm I switched from isopropylalcohol to vodka (37,5) and have noticed that the color of zix has gone from light yellow to white. The vodka solution does not stain my scalp as badly (when using it after minoxidil) as the isopropylalcohol version did. You think this is a good sign?
