I appreciate that, but I fear that in a year or two I'll lose the hair in the middle of the thinning area and have a big bald spot. :(

As I mentioned earlier, it isn't as if I had no problems on Avodart. I was losing the battle when I was on it. Things just got a lot worse when I stopped. Now, I wonder if dutasteride would regrow the hair on my crown. Rogaine clearly isn't working.

*UPDATE* After starting this thread in February 2010, I started using Rogaine Foam 2X per day in conjunction with Propecia. I've been on this routine for over a year now and I'm not happy with the results. Over the past year, I've lost a significant amount of hair in the front temple areas...

Well...I just started Propecia. Should I go back on Avodart instead? Is the general consensus here that Avodart is the most effective of the 2 drugs?

I could, but that's one of the dilemmas - Avodart or Propecia? During the years on Avodart, my hair definitely thinned some and the front receded. Nothing major, but Avodart did not stop it in its tracks. I just started Propecia in hopes that it will be more effective than Avodart. I can't...
