I actually believe it's the opposite. Some people are more sensitive to type-I in the hairline regions which is why they don't respond at all to finasteride but respond really well to dutasteride.
I myself have been taking finasteride for 14 months with no results whatsoever, in fact continued...
Actually, my initial loss at the hairline on meds was almost identical to OP's (although it was spread out over the first 6 months or so). It's now been nearly 8 months for me on finasteride (about 1.5 years on minoxidil) and while the rate of recession has slowed, I'm definitely still thinning with no sign...
Funny thing is, i actually broke my phone very recently and had all my progress photos documented on the internal memory. I'll have to see if I can recover them from the memory modules. Believe me when I say it's only been steep downhill for me, lol.
thanks man, I've read a couple of stories...
Just an update from me one month on ~ I've now been on finasteride about 6.5 months and rogaine even longer, and in that duration have gone from a NW1.5 to about a full blown Norwood 3. Life is pretty shitty at the moment, but for the most part I try my best not to dwell on it too much. I'm hanging...
I would call that amazing retention. I would give a lot to only lose 1.5NW over 20 years.
Anyway, if you buy the theory that there are more Type I receptors in the hairline and more Type II as you move further back along the scalp - which is why finasteride tends to work better in the back...
But then he probably felt like sh*t when he started losing his hair, too, without asking for any of it. And back then he didn't have any meds to fight it. Plus he got it from his dad, who got it from his dad, who got it from his dad....
the point is, there's not really much use blaming my dad...
Hi, I know a handful of people continue to see a bit of slow recession on finasteride, particularly in the hairline/temples. But I was wondering if anybody has heard of cases where people have continued to become completely bald while using finasteride long term? Like using finasteride for 1-2+ years and going from...
No. My mother's side of the family has relatively good hair. No balding uncles, etc. my maternal grandfather was a norwood 2 at 60. My father, however, is a Norwood 6. I inherited my mother's hair but my father's balding pattern. It's literally sh*t.
Yeah it's really crushing to have hairloss at this age, especially for you who are even younger than I am. Hope you find success. I've been taking minoxidil for about 1.5 years now, it gives me vellus hairs that are a couple of mm long but not much more. I'm planning to give finasteride until month 9 or 10...
Hey man, don't get your hopes up too much. I've been on it for a bit over 5 months, also for temple thinning/recession alone (I'm 22). So far i've only experienced bouts of shedding with no regrowth or maintenance. My hair has seen a constant decline since starting, and I'm now far below...
So finasteride and minoxidil are supposed to "work better" on the vertex and crown versus the hairline/temples. Regrowth seems to be more common for the top and back of the scalp too, instead of the front. But for guys balding at the hairline/tempes - eventually this will creep all the way back...
hi guys,
thanks for your replies. I'm not sure about an effluvium... i thought that was supposed to occur all over your scalp? I'm only shedding miniaturised/new growth hairs directly from my hairline. It's not a terrible shed either, many people would probably even count it as a normal rate of...
Okay, so this is an unusual question.
In about a week's time i'll have been on 0.625mg finasteride for 4.5 months. It's been up and down since starting, I had a mild, almost insignificant shed near the beginning and have since had good and bad days. Around month 3.5 I could've sworn my hairline was...
All right guys, 8 week (on finasteride) update:
I'm seriously freaking out and need some assurance that I should stick with what I'm doing. Around the 1-month mark of finasteride I would've sworn my hairline corners were looking better and I was getting (if not thicker hairs) at least growth of MORE...
Hi,
title says it all. Are certain balding patterns representative of more aggressive male pattern baldness than others? I think I have the beginnings of a 'W' pattern, both my hairline corners are thinning badly, and the very middle of my hairline has also started to thin dramatically. I've heard some people...
