Seriously. finasteride gets a bad rap. I've been on finasteride a little over 4 months now and have had zero side effects. I think having NO side effects at all or very mild side effects is significantly more common than having truly adverse side effects. Regardless i'd much rather have a relatively low libido...

Hard to say. Very abnormal balding pattern. I'd say it looks more like telogen effluvium then male pattern baldness. Are your temples receded?

Looks like a NW1 hairline to me. Not perfectly straight across (your's is slightly rounded/angled) but not all NW1's are. As they say "continue to monitor" but at this point i'm not sure you have any signs of male pattern baldness whatsoever.

No telling how well you'll respond until you actually begin treating it and unfortunately it's a waiting game after starting treatments. For what it's worth your hair loss pattern resembles that of bumblebeewang and he managed to go from a NW2 back to 1 on the big 3. Not saying you'll get those...

Your hair definitely looks improved in the 2015 pics. Looks like you did gain some density and coverage on your temples.

Exactly what I was thinking. Toppik is supposed to be especially good at concealing crown loss. It's hard to fake a hairline.

I guess i'm wrong but I always assumed NW2a had the appearance closer to that of a NW4 where the forelock is almost completely gone.

My worst nightmare is losing the frontal portion of my hairline (forelock) in the early stages of hairloss ala. NW2a or NW3a. That's a pretty jolting aesthetic change to have to endure early on.

In the grand scheme of hairloss this is nit picky. You can easily conceal a thin crown or hair whorl. Not so much the case with your hairline. I'd take a smallish bald spot on the crown with a full hairline any day. Not to say it's a crime for it to bother you but I wouldn't stress about it.

Couldn't give you a completely definitive answer but one thing to take into account is woman's minoxidil concentration tends to be 2%, while mens is 5%. A higher concentration usually leads to better growth.

Hard to say from the pics and harsh lighting but i'm not seeing any signs of miniaturization from the pics.
