could anyone comment on this for me?? my hair is falling out incredibly faster than it ever has before and my hair looks terrible....any thoughts would be appreciated
I've been on propecia for probably 14-15 months or so....I started right when i noticed the loss, before it was even remotely visible...at this point you can see through the hair at my hairline and scalp is starting to show through....this is where its worse although i'm diffuse thinning...
i'm curious about this as well....it says to take 1mg a day of finasteride, missing once in a while probably wouldn't be a big deal, but I'm assuming you should be trying to take about 1mg a day like it says...anyone think it wouldn't effect your results if you take it less frequently?
propecia won't make your hair anyworse off....there are periods of shedding yes, but that hair will hopefully grow back thicker than before....i've been on propecia for just over a year and you hafta ride out the sheds in order to save the majority of the hair you have left
You'll be alright, keep up the regimen and keep putting the minoxidil onto your temples or wherever you need it, and if you are a good responder like pbz said you can turn it around in about a year
I've never heard anything about smoking being related to DHT levels but if the possibility can make you stop smoking then you might as well go for it right? Also you might want to pick up some nizoral shampoo, once I started on propecia my scalp got quite a bit drier and I started getting...
ricardo you can put minoxidil anywhere you want, be aware that putting it on an area where you still have hair may cause an initial shed. Also make sure to get the minoxidil onto your scalp rather than just rubbed into your hair
Your Dr. may want you to try using propecia first to see what kind of results you get, no reason to start taking minoxidil and tie yourself to applying twice a day until you see what propecia can do for you. I'd give propecia a try and then start on minoxidil.
I don't know about walgreens or costco brands but the active ingredient is minoxidil, so just check for that on the package. to apply it part your hair and rub directly into your scalp, once it dries i believe you can gel or style your hair, and you may dry up your scalp so pick up some nizoral...
Can't help you too much because i'm not very familiar with Xandrox, but minoxidil does not contain a DHT inhibitor, take finasteride if you're looking for that....if i had to GUESS i would say that the stronger dosage wouldn't actually increase your shedding all that much, but i'd start at the lower dosage...
You can put minoxidil anywhere on your head that you're trying to regrow hair, if your hair is starting to thin behind your bald spots (which i'd imagine it is) then go ahead and put it there also. minoxidil is likely to cause a shed when you first start using so beware of that, also starting on finasteride if...
propecia often causes shedding, it may be a sign that it's actually working for you (the old hairs and being shed so the new can grow in). Also, minoxidil can cause shedding so if you just started using it, it may be a cause of the shedding as well, stick with it and the shedding goes away.
stevieb- did you talk to a Dr. about using Nizoral every day, or at least more than 3 times per week? I'm curious as to what they'd say about it...please let me know if you talk to someone....thanks
