Finasteride shed cycles: Thinning before thickening. How many cycles?

Going through a major shed. It sucks. I don't know if it has to do with Spring approaching. On the upside, I see a lot of tiny hairs on my scalp. I hope they will thicken as they continue to grow.

What are these little thin hairs that fall out more frequently?

Maybe they're vellus hairs from Minoxidil treatment.

SQUEEGEE SHOULD BE ABLE TO COME BACK

For a guy in his mid-30s, he should have known better than to act the way that he did. He was prone to outbursts, personal attacks, and rage, even for things as simple as discussion (you know, what a forum is intended for). Heck, he even threw around expletives and personal attacks if you asked...

Dr. Reddy's Generic Finasteride Led to Shedding

Interesting. I'll make sure to steer clear of it. I'm on 5mg of generic finasteride (split into 1.25 of course). This last month, my new pharmacy changed my generic finasteride to a different pill and I think it adversely affected me. That or I may have been due for a finasteride shed. Instead...

question about diets and hair loss

A crash diet can trigger telogen effluvium, which is marked by diffuse thinning throughout. Normally, women can recover from this by correcting their diet. In men, though, telogen effluvium can kickstart androgenic alopecia for individuals for a genetically predisposed. This means that even if...

2nd shed on finasteride, have you experienced one?

I have been shedding off and on for over 2 years. I thought it stopped for good 2 months ago, but then it started up again this month.

    eyelash problem

Do you think you're going to enjoy routinely trimming your beard hairs when they are transplanted to your eyelash region? Beard hairs grow a lot more than eyelashes and they also are really coarse.

    eyelash problem

Stick to the lash tinting and mascara. Less room for error. I had a male friend who wore foundation and I never would have noticed it until a friend told me. And even then, I still didn't notice that it was being used. Mascara use doesn't have to be over the top. Get something that's really...

Thinking to Start finasteride. How to? please advise

I have no idea. It just sounds like your dermatologist wants you to choose the option that will give him more money. He makes more money giving you a transplant than simply writing you a prescription for Finasteride.

Is shedding a sign of male pattern baldness?

lol. That's kind of mean. As for the original poster, at least get on Finasteride. I'm not using Minoxidil because I don't have the lifestyle habits to apply it twice a day for the rest of my life, but popping a pill in my mouth each morning is really easy.

Diffus Thinning or Telogen Effluvium? 19

Yeah, that's possible that it's directly related to where you applied Rogaine. For what it's worth, there's a guy who posts in one of the dermarolling threads who has similar hairloss (not from the same cause) and has seen substantial regrowth by using a dermaroller in combination with...

Diffus Thinning or Telogen Effluvium? 19

Alopecia areata? Maybe. Are you also thinning more on one side of your hairline (left) than the other or is just the lighting in the pics?

Diffus Thinning or Telogen Effluvium? 19

Hmmm. It could possibly be Telogen Effluvium, although the way it's thinning is unusual (the thinning patch in the middle of your head). I don't know if the auto inflammatory disease is worsening the problem or changing the way the hair falls/thins (I don't think Telogen Effluvium usually sheds like that).

Diffus Thinning or Telogen Effluvium? 19

Telogen effluvium is usually caused by some kind of trigger or shock to the body such as emotional trauma (i.e. death of relative), major surgery, or crash dieting and extreme weight loss. Did you experience any kind of shock to the body 3-4 months before you first noticed major shedding?

Is shedding a sign of male pattern baldness?

I don't think it makes a difference. Considering your dad began balding at the same age, and you seem to be headed in the same direction, there's not really much of a risk in beginning treatment with Finasteride or Minoxidil (or you could look into the dermarolling method that is possibly...
