Hello lads,

Im scared shitless of sides from finasteride, i aint going to lie. I understand that 'most' people dnt experience sides but i really dnt want to take the risk.

Therefore please help me with the following questions

1) What do you think the chances of sides from 0.25 of finasteride?
2) Also i understand that o.25 wont be as effective as highr dosages of finasteride, but do you think i can still achieve some results, i.e slowering hair loss as at least il be blcoking some DHT?

EVERYBODIES OPINION WELCOMED PLEASE!

I personally don't think a difference of 0.75mg is going to decide whether you get sides or not, I think you're either going to get them or you're not. Maybe based on the level of other hormones in your body.

0.25 has been shown to have similar results on DHT levels to 1mg I believe, if this is the case the sides on either would be the same too, no?

I guess this doesn't help.. start on 0.25 if you want to, no harm in it. I've been 1mg then up to 1.25 with no issues.

why dont u try .25 and after a few months if you dont get any sides go up to .5 mgs, and then continue increasing the dosage as long as you dont get sides.

like my derm told me when i asked about starting on .25mg - "try the full 1mg, if you're still alive in a week, continue"

look man, fact is, you have a very small chance of getting sides, and an almost infinitesimally small chance of having them stay after cessation of the drug

FDA says

0,05mg finasteride works nerly so good as 1mg finasteride
1mg finasteride is 1,66% better as 0,05mg finasteride

If you take 0.05mg then don't complain a year later when it's not working.

IMO you'll either suffer sides on finasteride or not, the reasons for might be the balance of other hormones in your body. If you then get around this by lowering the dose it's probably lowered enough too negate the desired effect as well.

I thinks its down to your hormones and how much finasteride actually gets through to your blood as your liver will be trying to flush it out. Some sources say even less than this dose will be the same as 1mg of finasteride others say different. I've heard 0.5mg is 80% as effective as 1mg of finasteride. I can only guess that 0.25mg is even less effective. One thing im certain about is that 0.25mg is not 25% as effctive as 1mg of finasteride it will be more than this. I tried messing with this dose a while ago and can say the side effects (if you get them) reduce themselves but not nearly as much as you would think. They were still there.

0.25 mg would probably work just as well as 1 mg and would also have the same amount of side-effects.

5-Alpha-Reductase Type 2 production is very slow in our body. If you succeeded in blocking most of it, the next day only a very small amount of new 5-AR Type 2 is produced and you will only need a small amount of finasteride to block it. (0.25 mg is more than enough).

I believe there's a study somewhere that shows that 0.20 mg reduces serum DHT as much as 5 mg, but it needs a few days to catch up.

The only benefit of taking 0.25 is you save money. You will still get the same regrowth and side effects.

Not sure about that. I used to take 1mg finasteride and couldn't even masterbate. I use xandrox 15 plus now. It has the same amount of finasteride per application but far less absorbtion and do not get as many sides. Approx 50% sides. I also think regrowht rate is slower.

What are you talking about; we are talking about a pill you put in your mouth not soemthing you abosrb on your head.

Nobody knows what doses cause what side-effects and at what dose finasteride stops being effective. You can look at users - some report success on 0.25mg, some don't; some report no sides on 1mg, others report strong sides on 0.25mg. You can even look at the science: there are studies indicating that 0.25 is as effective as 1mg, but it's not really all that conclusive. The trouble, as always, is that a hell of a lot depends on the individual's genetic and physiological make-up. You can't make a general rule about something which affects individuals so differently.

There are only two variables you need to consider: cost, and side effects.

The first is obvious. With the latter, it's really a case of trying and seeing what happens.

Give 1mg a try; if you get sides, stop, and perhaps you can try 0.25 to see what happens. Alternatively, you can go on 0.25mg and work up if you feel OK. The bottom line, though, is that nobody can give you answers to your questions; you just have to try things out.

The test might help you determine finasteride's effectiveness and how well you'll respond to it, but ultimately the only way to tell if you'll get sides that you can't tolerate is if you try taking the drug. That's just a reality.
