Dear all,
I have been taken propecia 1 mg everyday since march on 2006, And I just check my liver function on last month and the ALT result is 51 U/L (conv.unit and S.I unit). And i have some question abt it
1)As i know the range is 0-40 but my doctor say 51 is normal range. I have ask the other people and some of them say 0-60 or even up to a 100 something will be a normal range. then what range should it be?
2)I didnt check my liver function before I took the propecia, so that I am not sure is it the proecia over load my liver function. what do u guys think??
3) now i am taking the propecia every other day and go to check my liver again after 3 month. should i take 0.5 propecia or 1mg every other day?? will it be the same??? cause during this 9 month propecia works on my hair (maintaining). I am adding spironolactone 1 per day i hope it would be help too?
4)have any one of u guys have the same case as me??? i mean to reduct the propecia from 1mg everyday to 1mg every other day??
I hope u guys can share some opinion with me
Best Regard
Antz

However, there is a study that suggests lower doses of Finasteride as almost as effective as the recommended 1mg per day -
if that reduced dosage is taken every day as opposed to the same dosage taken every 2 days

I think it's more efficient (more cost-effective) to take the drug divided-up into multiple doses and taken more frequently.

Hey Everyone, I'm a pharmacy technician and thought I'd give some info from a cool jewy-trick a pharmacist I know uses for his finasteride use.

As you probably know, The strength of finasteride (1mg) is quite expensive since it only comes in brand form, propecia. 30 pills without insurance is 75.99 at CVS pharmacy.

In my experience, few insurance plans cover much of the price of brand propecia, partially because it's brand and partially because they consider male pattern baldness a superificial condition, not life threatening.

However, proscar(finasteride 5mg) which used to treat enlarged prostate does come in generic form, generic finasteride 5mg is 80.59 for 30 pills without insurance at CVS pharmacy.

A pharmacist I work with has his doctor prescribe this, generic proscar - finasteride 5mg and splits the pills into 4 quarters. Taking 1.5mg per day, getting nearly the same amount of drug for much a much lower price.

Hmmm...what to comment on first? Your racist comment? Your spamming links? Or your suggestion of splitting Proscar which is up there with the common knowledge that water is wet?

Good lord. Just because there is something potentially wrong with your body doesn't mean that it's the fault of finasteride.
