19 years of age in a few months. NW1 coverage but with thinning temples (I was NW2 before ''big two''). Currently doing big three except without the finasteride.

Brother started balding at the same age. He's about nw2.5 atm at age 26. Don't wanna go that route.
Wondering if DHT blocking can lead to stunt in height and or other important factors.

Thoughts?

Edit: Will upload new pictures tomorrow. Just applied minoxidil and hair is greasy.

Look people are going to chew me out for this. I started balding at 16 and it sucked. If I had known I was going to go bald early I would have tried finasteride sooner.

Instead I waited until I was a Norwood 3 at 24 to get on meds, I deeply regret my decision to not start earlier.

If I was in your position I would hop on it.

I feel the same. I just noticed my hairloss at 24, at that time being as far as a NW2.5. Don't know why I didnt notice it earlier, maybe denial? Maybe the fact that I didnt expect to be balding since there are no balding men in my family. Anyway, I hopped on the big3 immediately and the only regret I have is that I didnt find out earlier about these treatments.

You could wait a year to play it on save, however starting with finasteride on the age of 19 should be safe.

Most men on finasteride do regret not taking it sooner. Its not even a guarantee it will work, but what is a guarantee is you won't be able to keep your minoxidil gains for long without it.

What are the chances that I get to keep everything I have if I hop on finasteride? If I'm not mistaken, didn't you hop on it and lose your gains?

It feels as if I'm still growing (not fully developed). That's the only thing that hinders me right now...
Another issue is how I'll be getting it. I won't be able to get it irl (because it is extremely expensive + doctor's don't take me seriously), as well as convincing my parents.

How did it work out for you after hopping on the treatments?

Exact estimates are hard to pinpoint but its generally accepted that 83% of users will see some benefit from using it.
I lost my gains when I dropped finasteride actually, but those gains were my minoxidil gains and still haven't grown back 4 months of shedding later. Been back on finasteride for over 2 months now.
I don't think finasteride helped my hair loss, I was definitely still balding while on it but maybe it will be a different story for you.

Can the gains I've gotten because of minoxidil be kept if I get on finasteride? (Without dropping minoxidil, ofc)

I'm on it for almost a year now and I feel perfectly fine, I don't notice any sides whatsoever. Within this year my hair thickened up quite a bit, especially around the hairline. My crown was still fine before treatments, however it seems that it also looks better then before. Maybe its just in my head, but overall I definitely see improvements but no crazy regrowth or changes. Personally I wasnt hoping for any major regrowth, just stopping my hair loss is what I was hoping for. Goodluck!

How did you get your finasteride? Any legit website you know of?

Maybe. That depends on how many dead follicles are being kept alive by minoxidil. If some of those hairs have died when minoxidil loses its effectiveness those hairs may not be saved.. Unless you are a great finasteride responder, which statistically is unlikely unfortunately.

Alright. Thanks for you help. Do you happen to know a legit website where I can purchase finasteride btw?

Sure do. If you are from the UK use UKmeds.co.UK
If you live elsewhere AlldayChemist and InhousePharmacy are good legitimate companies.

Do you recommend that I purchase 5 mg an cut it into pieces or 1 mg?
That's up to you, it is cheaper that way and will work the same as 1mg. Only downside is its a pain to quarter the pills.
