26 y/o, 1 year on finasteride, 3-4 years on minoxidil. Pretty happy with results, i started finasteride fairly early on, hair right now looks "normal"- naked eye cant tell ive lost any hair. Crown fully restored.

One side of hairline is better than the other but beggers cant be choosers. So as of right now, i am pretty dang happy.

How long can I expect this to last? Also using minoxidil, so hoping that prolongs effects. Very healthy/active, eat great, no stress in life at this point.

Congrats, can you show us from before and after pictures? When did you experience regrowth on the crown?

I have scattered pics but i was never consistent. My hair is really curly anyway and always different lengths so kind of hard to notice in pictures.

It was a slow process! 4-6 months started seeing crown improvement, and i think just recently ive got a little thickening on hairline.

If you're on it, just keep it up! minoxidil helps too

Thanks! Did you have bald spot in the crown and then after 4-6 months, the bald spot became hard to notice/gone?

I started finasteride pretty early on, i never had a bald spot, just the initial signs of thinning. You could see some crown when hair was wet couldn't really tell with dry hair.

But yep just slowly thickened it up

I've read a lot of posts about propecia/finasteride, and it seems that there is no definite answer. Some say they regrew and maintained for 3 years, then began losing again, others are ten years in and still going strong. I guess it all boils down to how aggressive your hair loss is. However, I would be optimistic, because for all you know, if the time comes that it stops working for you, they may be a much better treatment available. The goal with propecia, at least for me, is to keep my hair until that treatment comes.

If your starting propecia today I think your odds are better than ever before you might be one of the first people that dont have to worry about propecia losing effectiveness. In 4 or 5 years you will most likely be off of it and on safer/more effective stuff. The only thing is the new stuff is gonna cost and arm and leg compared to the very cheap and reasonable propecia prices since its generic
Nothing is certain, but odds are very good in 2-4 years at least 1 new thing or maybe more will exist.
