Just wanted to update my previous two posts. For the latest go to:

viewtopic.php?f=61&t=63144

In a nutshell I had done 8 years on Propecia 1mg and then 2 years on 0.5mg. Propecia was a great success for me and lead to regrowth. (details on previous postings). I cut down to 0.5mg after 8 years and this had no effect on my hair for 2 more years. Then 16 month ago I decided to stop taking Propecia and move to the topical dht inhibitor Revivogen. After 12 months I reported that Revivogen was a success (indeed I had seen no hair loss) but after 14 months the hair started to fall and after 16 months it was noticeable that I was moving back towards were I was 10 + years ago! I have therefore decided to go back onto 0.5mg of Propecia a day. I have now been back on Propecia for 1 month and there has been no shedding and the loss I was getting with Revivogen has halted.

Draw your own conclusions but I have to conclude that for me - a person who reacted very well to a sistematic dht inhibitor - Revivogen did not work. I was prepared to endure the smell and inconvenience to avoid the continued use of sistematic drugs. But I'm afraid that after 16 months it started to fail me. So back to Propecia!

I doubt revivogen had any effect on your hair loss. The effects of propecia are believed to wear off around a year after you stop taking it. So in the 12 months after you stopped finasteride your hair was still the result of finasteride and not anything from revivogen. Did you take a gerenric of finasteride you ordered online or a real propecia?

The onyl strange thing here - in all honesty - is the fact that you think this is much of a finding.

Revivogen uses Saw Palmetto. Practically a WEAK version of finasteride. Not only this but its topical. No comparison, is there?

If you were actually serious about going off finasteride and hoping to sustain the results you've enjoyed you would need RU. If you are worried about side effects - CB 03 01 is coming close to fruition. The best of the lot.

I think if Rev has anything going for it it's the fatty acids in it, the beta sitosterol and saw palmetto aren't IMO worth much.

I'm where Veteran Suffer was at a two years ago.

Except i had a year off completely from finasteride and then yeah it looked like things were starting to go again, so from personal experience there's every chance that it was the finasteride that helped you maintain.

I don't completely trust revivogen which is why I'm slapping on the skunk cream as well.
