So you're losing your hair, some may have lost it all and some are rapidly on their way there. Who HASN'T thought "this is the worst thing that could ever happen!"? I admit, that I have, but that's pure bull$hit. I've started a list of situations where the unfortunate people experiencing them would trade their situations for yours in a second (albeit presumably.) Read the list, then go live your day being thankful for what you've got.
* I'm aware that some people on this site may experience some of these, however, it is a hairloss website and the point certainly isn;t to offend anyone, but hopefully show people that hairloss is not the worst thing that could happen and many of us are actually lucky. Please feel free to comment and make suggestions. I'm not going to come up with 100 on my own. If somethign offends someone let me know and I will remove it. The goal is to come up with 100 things and then hopefully this hairloss thing will seem very trivial by comparison.
The List
1) Being blind 2)Being born with a mental disability 3) Having a loved one die early in your life 4) Missing a limb 5) Being deaf 6) Terminal cancer 7) Multiple Sclorosis 8) Aids 9) living in a war torn country 10) starving 11) Drinking and driving and killing someone. 12) Having a growth defect 13) being dead 14) having a family and being out of work 15) being paralyzed 16) having to live in a wheel chair 17) Bad transplant( from aplunk) 18) being really really ugly 19) Being horribly disfigured in a fire/bombing 20) Having that disease where you can't grow any hair, not even on your eyebrows 21) losing a child 22) Being in a permanent coma 23) cystic fibrosis 24)being a vegetable 25) being too old to enjoy life the way you want to 26) spending your life worrying about hairloss (from blueshard) 27) Being in prison 28) being told you have 3 months to live 29) being homeless 30) having a really small shlong (from deaner) 31) being morbidly obese and not able to do anything about it (from metalheahdude) 32) gyno (from Norsk) 33) being a hermaphrodite 34) being a NW6 at 18 35) gigantism (I knew a guy who had a chin the size of a volleyball, he would have traded places with me in a second) 36) being shorter than 5'4" 37)Alzheimers disease 38) cerebral palsy 39) Horrible, acne scarring 40) PKU (the disease where one looks mentally handicapped but isn't 41) Being 6'10" without a speck of athletic ability 42) Getting into a car accident and not being able to use your hands to grip anything ever again 43) Being wrongfully accused of harrasement or somethign of the like and losing your job and family because of it 44) Brain aneurysm at an early age 45) Being autystic 46) Being a serious drug addict 47) being in an insane asylum 48) being that guy that everyone just hates, and no matter what you do, everyone hates you (from Sean68) 49) having that condition where hair grows everywhere on your body inlcuding your face., nose, forehead........ to be continued

It does not matter so much of the situation that you are in, rather how you react to it... A person with cancer may be happier than a person with hair loss.. it depends on the individual.

A person who has lost their job and is struggling to support their family may actually be experiencing less stress than someone on this board who is losing their hair. (GASP!!) Alternatively, someone losing their hair may be experiencing less stress than someone who has lost their job and is trying to support their family. :youbet:

blueshard, you are absolutely right. It is what you make of the situation..not the situation itself. And there is no 100% clear cut list of things that are worse off. However, I would hope that an overwhelming majority of the list is worse than hairloss (when applied to the very same person.) I mean, if someone gets freaked out about a little bit of thinning hair, how would that same person react to losing an arm? I would always use the excuse "my life would be different if I had hair." The bottom line is that many posters (myself included) need ot be more thankful for what they DO have, put things into perspective and hopefully live their life more fully.

The situation can't be changed, how it's handled can be however. Bottom line is, there's a lot of things worse than hairloss regardless of who you are.

This is not the only post you have destroyed :shakehead:

To the OP of course there is many things worse than hairloss.

I think being morbidly obese would be far worse than hairloss.

I'm really sorry to hear that plusryan. Not too many people have to endure that type of problem, certainly not to that extent. That's why all the posts about suicide get to me. I hope you and your family will stay strong.

gyno......thats a pure certainty. Morbid obesity, and small dong? I'd rather be bald myself (hell, I am) although I'm sure a lot of other members would disagree and rather have a small dong. Well, the list can;t be perfect for everyone.
