Hey! So I'm currently 15 and very young. Call me paranoid, but every male on both my mom and dads side is bald. I'm getting nervous since the right temple seems to be receding and I think my crown as well. My head gets very itchy but I don't think thats related. My parents say theres nothing to worry about, but I really would like to know for peace of mind.

Hey buddy, you have a bit of recession nothing to freak out about yet, often times hairline changes happen during teenage years and then stay like that for a while. You say all men on both sides of the family are bald? Did they start balding young or balding when they were already 35+?

Don't worry about this too much right now as there is nothing you can do about it anyways but If you have multiple young balders in your family you definately got to keep an eye on it as I am sure it is very likely you will see hairloss in the future.

Both grandfathers on each side died when my parents were realtively young. However my dad started balding in his 30's due to stress and my uncle is the only one with a full head of hair.

Stress doesn't cause permanent balding.

Extreme physical or emotional stress can affect hair growth and cause the hair follicles to shed more rapidly than normal, leading to temporary hair loss through a process called telogen effluvium. Telogen is the resting phase of hair. ... Once the stress is alleviated, hair regrowth will start to recover in 3-6 months.

The fact that people from both you're parents side have gone bald surely means that you're gonna go bald unless you take monasteries or minixodil all your life.

I've come to accept that is the case, but I'm just worried about keeping my hair until I'm atleast 30. At the moment, does it look like something I should worry about?

The type of recession you have right now we can see miniaturized hairs on the hairline. Seeing any miniaturized hairs at 15 is a bad sign bro because as you get older your follicles get more sensitive to DHT but in your case some of your follicles are already sensitive to DHT before finishing puberty.

With that being said, my friend also had a hairline that looks like yours that changed a lot when he was 15 even with visible miniaturized hairs. Now he is 22 and his hair is exactly the same with no signs of loss.

That's relieving to hear. I'm clinging to the hope that that will be the case for me. If it gets worse, I'll see if I can try Minoxidil but for now I think I'm good. My only 2 questions are:

1. Where would I be on the Norwood scale?

2. Could the DHT responsible for my itchy scalp?

I would say you are barely above NW1. Like NW1.25.

Yeah a lot of people who have hairloss compain about having scalp itch which many believe to be dht related.

Try to Use spironolactone 5% along with Fluridil if you can afford it otherwise go with minoxidil instead of fluridil and keep monitoring your hairline closely every week
