16 and desperate for finasteride

Thanks man I think I'll start with Kirkland minoxidil foam. Only problem is I'm diffusing all around, can I apply the foam to the middle of my scalp too? Also, if I buzz my head to say blade 2-3 can't it mask the shed at the top?

I'm diffused in a Norwood 6 pattern and I apply Minoxidil to the entire area, twice daily. I also apply Minoxidil to my nape and hair behind my ears since I have Retrograde Alopecia. Buzzing your head could give the illusion of having more hair, though I wouldn't count on it a whole lot if your hair loss is very extensive.

No you don't see, at 16 most teenagers are not fully developed, even though the OP thinks he is done with puberty he may well still be growing in some areas. finasteride will completely halt penile growth so if he is not fully developed there then he will not be for the rest of his life. There is a reason the drug was trialled and marketed for those 18 and over.

Oh I see. Sorry, didn't know that! Yes, that changes things and yes he should wait until he's fully developed if that's the case.

How much do you use? Do you have like a video I can use on how to apply it? And regarding using it all over your scalp, doesn't it run out faster?

I use the foam, and I really do not measure how much I use per application. I just apply until satisfied, one bottle will last me roughly around two weeks, usually less when my hair is longer. Follow the instructions from the manufacturer on application, it says to only use on the crown but it will work on all other areas where Minoxidil is applied.

Since you plan on keeping your head buzzed, you'll only need to use a small amount per application, maybe a cap full maximum each time if you decide to use the foam. If you use liquid, using 1 milliliter maximum should be sufficient.

I've heard cases where many men use it once a day and still see results m. Twice a day sounds quite troublesome

Yes, you can use Minoxidil once daily and get results if you do not wish to use it twice a day.

I recommend getting on minoxidil until you are 18-19 years old then jump on finasteride as well. You will be able to maintain your hair this way, and maybe even improve it. Do not underestimate minoxidil, it is a highly effective hair loss medication and although it doesn't stop male pattern baldness at its route it will give you those valuable extra years. If your still early in your hair loss (only slight thinning) you will probably be able to maintain your hair until your late 20's. Bare in mind a lot of people who get on these treatments are in the late stages of male pattern baldness hence they dont see great improvements but for someone who has just started losing their hair Minoxidil can be a life saver.

Looking back at my pictures i too started losing hair at 16, although i didn't realize until i was 18 years old, at that point i jumped on Propecia and added in minoxidil after a year. Now at 20 almost 21, my hair is even better than it was at 16. Dont give up hope and jump on treatments.

Quick question regarding minoxidil, if I use it and I later decide to start finasteride, will I be able to stop minoxidil and just use finasteride so that hairs I've gained stabilises? Thanks

IMO 16 is too young to start finasteride.
I started it when I was 18 and I thought even that was pushing it.

I feel for ye man ,only got finasteride this year I'm 18,didn't go to my docs to get it as I had a strong feeling he wouldn't prescribe it ,went online and here in Ireland theirs a legit website that you get an online consultation and with in 2 days I got a prescription for 4 months supply of finasteride (proscar 5mg cut into 4),IMO id wait till your fully grown , best of luck man .

To be honest from past experiences I believe the mind can play tricks on you and make you believe you have some things when you don't (though I had hiv before due to having a rash flu and the runs bet my self up over it and when I finally went to get checked I was clean from everything lol)so no I Havnt experienced any sides except from day one and 3 when I thought I had ball ache but that was after reading all the side effects on various forums lol,so I think a lot of it is psychological.im doing good atm will start minoxidil soon ,hope you get something sorted and best of luck with if mate I know how you feel I've been receeding since my late 15s early sixteens .

Thank you mate, yeah it's horrible suffering from this at an early age, I started at 15 and I would constantly tell myself it's not male pattern baldness, but it's come to a point now where I have to take action. I wish you success on your journey mate and enjoy life I guess

Funny you say that,I have a mate and he has the thickest hair and perfect hairline but he can't grow a beard at all lol strange

I was kicking myself when I saw that website! I paid €400 for my prescription at a private clinic. The gp wouldn't give it to me.
