Hey everyone, I'm going to make this super short. So basically I'm a 16 year male and I was diagnosed with male pattern baldness (Diffuse Thinning) about 2-3 months ago and its been about a month and a half since I'm using Rogaine. Here are my questions:

1. Rogaine is making my hair look worse? I'm scared because I don't know what to do?
2. What else can I use? I really like my hair since it's my only good feature

I'm pretty much dying in the inside everyday, I don't know what to do other than use rogaine:(

Diagnosed by a dermatologist? Care to post pictures, please? We'll be able to better access things once we were to see some hairline pics.

First of all, I'm deeply sorry to hear you're suffering from male pattern baldness at the tender age of 16, and it's truly unfair. It makes me so sad every time I hear about a young case of Androgenetic Alopecia, especially in teenagers. Nobody should have to worry about baldness at that age, period!

Now, your questions;

1. Rogaine can initially make your hair worse because of the shed that comes with it. But don't worry (or try not to...), this is normal with Rogaine and they say it will get worse before it gets better. So hang in there, and keep using the product for at least 12 months before you decide.

2. You can use Finasteride to help prevent any further hair loss, or Dutasteride if you want something even stronger. Then there is topical Spironolactone (oral is not recommended for men...) or RU. Any of those would be worth a shot.

Lastly, I sincerely wish you good luck with your potential new regimen, and I hope it will give the results you desire.

Shocking advise to give to a 16 year old

Well, I know he's a bit young to go on finasteride, but I think he should know about it as well.

Worste thing he could possible do is jump on finasteride or ever worse spironolactone and dutasteride ... his hormones will be all over the place just now and messing with feminizing drugs will most likely cause serious ireversable damage

Also rogaine has been known to cause sheds that dont come back.

Ditch it and try using keto shampoo ( nizoral ) 2 or 3 times a week.

Cut out processed food and sugar and get plenty excersize.

Smart choice on your part for using Rogaine. You will probably just have an initial shedding of three to four months.

Don't worry. It's only temporary, and it's only a one time thing. Once that's done, you won't have any more shedding.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all your comments. I know it' really sucks I feel like I'm alone in this because no other guy my age is really experiencing what I am. And yeah, I'll stick to Rogaine, but isn't there anything else I can add possibly? I might add Nizoral, but I really want to fight it till I'm like at least my early 20s

It will definitely help in the fight. If you are concerned about dandruff, just use foam. Nizerol more or less is a dandruff medication.

I know this is a silly question without pictures, but please understand that I'm still young and want to keep my hair: So do you think If I use rogaine, and possibly add a DHT blocker when I'm 20, will I be able to keep my hair till my late 20s? So like 10 more years?

My other options are a hair system, but I don't know if that works for diffuse thinners, and also a hope for some future treatments, like brotzu or something:(

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate this.

Just some comments, I think I'm NW0 but my thinning is mostly seen from my hairline... So it's kinda strange, its not receding though.
