Do NOT take any drugs for this. They all suck. Just shave it bro, holy sheet I tell you it's awesome when it's hot as hell and sweaty out.

.. And then when you're out in a club or out in public maybe hitting on women, just cover that baldness up bro, with a hair system, like I intend to do once I ask and search around this site some more about them.

It's freedom, and liberty. I can choose when or when not to have what style of hair whenever hour I want.

I just recently realized that there's only one solution to our big huge dilemma of male pattern baldness here: hair systems.

You will change your mind eventually. Everyone wants their own hair. He can keep his hair if he is diligent about treating it.

Hi
Thank you for your lengthy response, glad to hear massages help, I've been doing it once a week so I'll increase that to 4 and hopefully I'll see a difference.

I just ordered a three month supply of minoxidil 5% today from Amazon and it's the foam version. I'm all really new to yhis and so I'm watching videos as to how to apply it best.

In addition I bought a nizoral shampoo and a 0.5mm derma roller and also am looking at routines as to how to apply it and stuff.

As for finasteride I'm 17 right now but I'll consider adding it when I'm not 18 and in uni.

My brother started to thin at my age severely my dad had a full head of hair in his wedding pictures when he was like 19 and I think he lost it when He was like 24. But NONE of my dads brothers are bald and he hasn't 5 brothers and the same on my moms side.

Again thank you your reply really does mean a lot

Oh boy, yes, post pictures of your hair after 6 months on minoxidil alone. I predict that your hair loss will get worse as you're not tackling the main component of what's causing the loss. DHT. I highly recommend starting finasteride now, the earlier the better. Good luck either way.

I'm one hell of an experienced Finasteide dutasteride minoxidil user and I will assure anyone reading this that actually, if you start off trying to go about baldness with drugs you'll eventually get realllll tired of the horrible side effects. They don't go away, either.

Real Kombo, plenty of people do fine with using minoxidil alone. When I was 19, I had crown thinning and it grew the crown back and I did not have a problem for 10yrs, for example. I am sure you and plenty of other people here would have told me to use Finasteride and you would have been wrong.

There is nothing wrong with trying treatment WITHOUT inhibiting DHT. As I said, plenty of people find success with it. Not everyone is destined to have aggressive baldness to the point of total hair loss, this treatment may work for them and the OP. Also not ALL baldness is related to DHT alone, which is probably why 5ARs and AR blockers do not work for everyone or do not work for everyone long term.

I am happy you found success with inhibiting DHT at 16, but this does not mean every teenager on here should do the same. Try to take yourself out of YOUR experience and put yourself in THEIRS.

There are ways to minimize side effects, it sounds like you are a person who just got the first soft boner and decided to stop.

Trust me, your whole act of 'shave it off and just wear a hair piece' is not going to last. The OP is 17, he has a good amount of hair still, you telling him to just go bald and wear a glorified wig is stupid.

f*** off with drugs. I used all them starting at 23 and they do nothing and the side effects and tested low dht levels don't go away after years of taking them. I Took them for years, side effects lessened over time but only slightly.

Drugs aren't a solution, not with them causing watery semen let alone all the other side effects.

Women are more turned off by watery semen than baldness and trust me your loads will be nothing but water permanently for the rest of your life after taking this horrible sh*t, DON'T TAKE FINASTERIDE OR DUTASTERIDE DON'T MESS WITH HORMONES.

It doesn't look like we currently have an option to make our own natural hair grow again with today's technology. We need to cover it up.

My main hair loss is at my temples, will this make a difference? Im happy it worked for your crown area tho

That will most definately become an option when I turn 18, as of right now i dont have the money myself to afford it so it isnt an option, i do plan on making a thread in 3 months time seeing if anything has changed, and its not just minoxidil, also a nizoral shampoo (2%) and a 0.5mm dermaroller.

Don't even TRY minoxidil. An old looking face is worse than baldness to many females, and minoxidil will make your face look like sh*t.

Just wear a wig. I know that sounds like a nightmare but it's all that will work. There is currently no way in hell to make your OWN hair grow back if you have male pattern baldness unless you're extremely lucky in having the RARE genetics to actually grow your hairline back with the drugs that exist today. And do so without the messed up side effects.

I Don't care. It's pure and simple truth. I'm on this site for only one reason, to ask a few final questions before I take the plunge to buy my first hair system.

But I still feel like occasionally commenting on other "solutions" to male baldness especially drugs: They don't work. Not in all practicality UNLESS you're LUCKY.

I'm just as balding now as I was when I first took finasteride several years ago and the side effects DO NOT go away after you stop taking these drugs. My semen is still watery and that's NOT all in my head.

@Ok no name I would start of with minoxidil once a day either morning or night. I prefer night as it fits in nicely with brushing your teeth. For me I would only use Nizoral once a week as it dried my hair out massively(eventually I just stopped using it) but others may suggest differently. Aim to dermaroll 2-3 times a week, you can stick to your hairline with this as your crown looks fine. Here is an example of the routine:

Mon - minoxidil, Dermaroll
Tue - minoxidil
Wed - minoxidil, Dermaroll
Thurs- minoxidil
Fri- minoxidil
Sat- minoxidil, Dermaroll
Sun- minoxidil, Nizoral

Don’t stress brother, you’ve caught it early! Wish you the best of luck!

Best to dermaroll just before applying minoxidil to help increase absorption and better doing it at night because it may make your scalp slightly red, that should go away by morning. I would also add i don't see why you shouldn't just dermaroll every night before applying minoxidil. i hope minoxidil works out for you.

I read somewhere that you should replace derma rollers every 30 uses, so if i were to follow this it would work really nicely in buying the minoxidil every 3 months as the next time i would need to buy a derma roller would be in September, following the twice a week rule.

Thank you for your reply tho

I turned 17 earlier this month and for the past two years I've been obsessing over my hairline. I've linked some pictures with my face covered as I'm really self conscious about this and can't help but compare my hairline to my friends perfect hairline and it really gets me down. How bad do you think it is?

Since I'm young(ish) I thought I'd finally start doing something. So far I've chnged my diet masturbate much less and massage my scalp with cocunut oil once a week. What else can I do to slow this down

Thank you
Honestly I saw the same when I was 17 and you would have thought I would be totally bald by now (34 years) but it kind of slowed up in my twenties. Don’t stress. Too young for finasteride in my opinion. Try minoxidil. I have only used minoxidil in conjunction with finasteride so don’t know if minoxidil alone will help hairline. Ideally you could go get a hair transplant like Tom Brady did and then just use minoxidil in time on other areas. Good luck

Hey, the minoxidil just came today along with the derma roller and nizoral shampoo. I plan on using the foam tonight, still havent decided between twice a day or once a day, some people have recommended once and others twice so im a bit torn.

If im honest it puts me at huge peace of mind knowing that im actively doing something instead of watching my hair just die. Its really comforting to hear that you have kept your hair for that long, i just want to last till at least im 25, if i do ill be absolutely buzzing.
Thanks : )

Don’t be alarmed if you see some shedding at first with the minoxidil i noticed it around three weeks in but it’s just the crappy Hair’s dying off being replaced
