Hi, I am 17 years old, and I'm considering beginning with propecia, but I'm wondering what effects it might have on me since I'm so young.
Are there any increased chances of side effects, and is it more dangerous for me to use then you guys that are over 18?

The best advice I can give you is to speak with your Dr. You should have an open discussion with him. At the end of the day it's only you that can decide this.

Good luck and let us know what happens. Please follow my advice.

I'd get a Dr's opinion if I were you. Go see a dermatologist that specializes in hairloss.

Yeah, really check with a Doctor 1st. You have to understand that you have a long way to go, and starting now will change your life forever.

I think we all need some DHT to maintain good growth, and internal bio chemisty is delicate. So don't change what u may not able to fix.

As much as I used min when I was 16, my Doctor OKed beacause he's balding too.

Thanks for the replies!

Propecia is not registered as a drug in norway(where I live), since it's not considered safe enough by the nowegian goverment. I must get a special prescription, so I must speak with a Doctor anyways. I was just wondering what you guys thought, since you probably know alot about propecia and hair loss, even more then some doctors I would reckon.

I asked one of those doctors online through a website, and he strongly advised against taking propecia at my age, since I'm still not out of puberty. So I've decided that i'ts probably for the best if I waited awhile, but how long should I wait? I doubt propecia suddenly becomes safe the day I turn 18, which is in 5 months by the way. I guess it's a question about how far I've come through puberty. I've always had some acne, but they've cleared now, I actually got mye first zit when I was ten. I shave everyday, and I haven't grown any taller the last year.

I'm now considering beginning with minoxdil and nizoral instead, since these are considered more safe for someone of my age, but I plan on beginning with propecia later, I just don't know when it's a suitable time for me to begin. I'm currently a norwood 2, and I first noticed that my hair loss ca. a half year ago, but I didn't belive it at first. I'd probebly been losing hair for some time when I first noticed.

My hair doesn't look to bad now, I don't look that bad with high tempels, I just want to stop it before it gets any worse.

I started at 16

I started propecia at the age of 16 and i am now 21. Apart from the development of female breasts i'm absolutely fine. But seriously folks... the only probs i have had have been slight pain in testes but that's about it. Everything else is normal. I acknowledge the side affects may only be seen at a later age but sofar so good is all i can say.

PS: I saw my Doctor at 16 and he advised me to go on pro and minoxidil.
