Hey so I'm only 17 years old and my hair has thinned a lot. The dermatologist I went to said it was telogen effluvium but it still worries me that my hair line has gotten worse and my hair is still thin. I recently cut my hair very short as it used to be long but now I can see the thinning. Any thoughts would really be appreciated as this stresses me out intensely which probably makes it worse. I attached a bunch of pictures to try show different angles. Thank you in advance.

Hard to tell dude. USUALLY the first signs of hair loss is a receding hairline but your hairline seems to be intact. Give it a few more months and if things dont improve but continue to get worse then it would be male pattern baldness for sure. Its unlikely to bald in your teens ( happened to me at 14 so it does happen ) is your dad bald and/or does hairloss run in your family? If it turns out to be male pattern baldness luckily there are effective treatments for it. However they dont work on everybody ( myself included :( ) keep an eye on it and come back in a few months. I hope your hair starts growing again!

Thanks man. My father is late 50s and still has decent hair but my mom's brother started losing hair in 30s i think. I've thought about it and I've semi come to terms with hair loss in life but at 17 it gets me down a little. I'll do an update in a few months to compare
