finasteride or dutasteride is bad news in your 20s. It will nuke your sex drive and general zest for life in an insidious way that he won't notice until it's too late i.e when he develops gyno and depression.

In my experience, I have no issues with my sex drive while on dutasteride, never had a problem on finasteride either. My only side effect is watery semen, I can just stop taking dutasteride if I want to get a woman pregnant.

Never ever got watery semen, not even on 2.5mg dutasteride or on 1mg finasteride. Its normal like always. Only sides are lack of morning wood but still get them. and permanent reduced ejaculation force. Weird how it affects us all so differently.

Im actually on my way to pick up my 3 months of finasteride atm. Been on finasteride for soon 2 months. 1mg oral. Yes I have quit finasteride several several times. Because of a single side effect but atm I combine it with DIM supp and other supps and its not too bad anymore so im a pretty happy camper.

To the OP, I wouldn't risk oral finasteride or min with your son. He's so young. My advice would be to explore topical finasteride 0.025% and min 5-6% 1mL once per day; Happy Head is what I use. This would be a minimal impact from a systemic absorption standpoint and a powerful option to at least slow down the loss given it appears to be aggressive.

Hi guys,

I'm 52 and bald, my father and grandfather bald and my sons mothers father bald. Recently noticed the crown of my son thinning already which surprised me cause he has had a good head of hair compared to me at his age. Mine was full but def on the thin side, his is thicker for sure but his crown is starting to thin.

I am going to take him to a dermatologist to ask some questions but looking for some guidance. I know there are so many options compared to 35 years ago so I was curious what many of you thought. Minoxidil, Propecia, and shampoos and /or natural supplements, etc, etc. Basically looking for guidance for him before we head to the doctor to have the discussion and also some things he can do w/out a doctor.

Balding in the crown is male pattern baldness, no question. Why tf would he start thinning in the most dht sensitive area if it's caused by something else?

At seventeen? It's true that Androgen alopecia can start anytime after puberty. That said, that's a very young age for that to happen, at least if it's noticeable.

There's nothing wrong with going to a doctor. Maybe in your mind, but there isn't. If it's androgen alopecia, than maybe he will get something prescribed to him.
