Hi I am new to this site. Here is a little background on me: I am seventeen years old and within the past year have lost over sixty pounds. It wasn't just a unexpected weight loss either.. I have been watching what I eat and exercising consistently throughout the week. Also I have always had "good thick hair". Nevertheless, recently I noticed that my hair has gotten super thin. My mom pointed it out to me after I got out the shower one night and I have been worried ever since. I don't want to make a doctors appointment just for this because if there is nothing wrong I will feel like I wasted the doctors time. Does anyone have an explanation of what might be going on? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

"Thin" as in falling out male pattern baldness style, or as in the hair strands themselves are thinner/weaker?

Thin and weak hair (as in thinning strands) is a typical sign of malnutrition, you often see it in girls with eating disorders for instance. Make sure you are eating a good diet and getting adequate nutrition. Weight loss should be supervised by a doctor.
