Hi guys:

I try to return every year with an update, but I usually forget. Sorry. I remembered this morning because I heard about Keeps, on the radio and see that this is just minoxidil 5%. LOL I always keep my ears open for any miracle treatment but never hear of anything. One day I'd love to be able to stop treatment altogether and just take a magic pill, but at this point, my regimen is second nature.

Forgot my password for davidleeroth, so could not log in with old username.

Anyways, here goes:

Jan 2001 at age 27: Skeptical about hair looking slightly different. Checked with dermatologist and diagnosed with male pattern baldness as a NW1-2. Both granddads NW7. Brother a NW3V. Began 1 mg finasteride a day.

2002: On advice of dermatologist, added Rogaine 5% and T/Gel

2003: Switched from Rogaine 5% to Xandrox 5% day and night. Loved Xandrox and loved the customer service from Dr. Lee.

2011: Switched from Xandrox to Corvinex 5% after Dr. Lee went out of business Thanks, FDA.

2014ish: Switched to Kirkland and other generic minoxidil because the premium brands became inconsistent and harder to find. Underwent about a year or two of very annoying itchiness on the kirkland and big box generics, but my scalp finally got used to it. No impact on results, just itchiness.

2019 age 46: No hairloss progression. Never broke 1mg finasteride/5% minoxidil/T-gel regimen. Followed religiously, maybe missed total 5-10 applications in 18 years. NW1-2. Brother a NW5 or 6.

Best of luck to everyone.

No way

lets hope that in 30 years though we have some very effective treatment available which will make minoxidil/finast obsolete

How important do you think Mindoxidil has been on your hair? I’ve been on finasteride for about 8 months and can’t decide if I should start using it or not

Thank you for this post.
I have recovered from NW7 -> NW3/4 and even if my regrowth parks at NW3/4 I'd be happy with that, I just want to retain at this point.

I've heard about people losing their gains after X time and then hairloss returning. I have been religious with my treatment and I really hope I can keep. (11 months in, still regrowing)

Have you ever tried foam? I have hair now and the liquid obviously makes scalp wet/slimy for an hour or so and then the hair becomes brittle when it dries. I'm also worried that the hair is absorbing too much of the minoxidil so I've been applying about 2ml and rubbing it in to scalp.
Do you just deal with the sliminess and brittle hair for 18 years?

Definitely use both. They are most effective when used together. Use religiously and forever. Forget about regrowth though; best outcome is holding the line and one day there will be a true permanent hair restoration treatment available.

I tried foam once. Didn't like it due to greasiness. I use the dropper but clean it with a tissue before applying. This helps keep the solution off the actual hair and scalp only.

The entire point of minoxidil is regrowth..
