is there a difference in normal temple recession and temple thinning tho? I mean honestly I have noticed my hair at my temples are thinner and a bit shorter however I figured it was just my hairline maturing because my frontal hairline seems to be strong and so far my oldest brother just has a simple recession like it matured so maybe that's what mines doing??
I'd say yes it does seem like you are thinning. Hey let me ask you this. What's the harm of buying products like Rogaine or other natural DIYS for keeping your hair? I'd say start doing these procedures so that you can have your hair longer than anyone else in your family.

Oh and one more thing I don't know why but my hair on the side of my head seem to be thinning as well however there's no thinning anywhere other than my temples and side of my head

Well is there anywhere to buy minoxidil for cheap? I'm pretty tight on funds I can't just put out money but I do know that if my hair does get really bad by the time I'm 25 i plan on getting a hair transplant but I'd like to stop it or slow it down as much as possible now that's why I bought biotin because I have heard people say that biotin strengthens the hair follicle so if that's the case it would could help slow the process even if it's little to nothing am I correct?

I do wear my hair in buns and ponytails tho so is there any chance this all could be traction alopecia??
honestly it does look like traction alopecia. It doesn't look like your typical male pattern baldness. You have great hair! Stop using the man buns and pony tails for a few months and the "thinning" areas you speak of may very well thicken up a bit. You see the same type of thinning on females who wear pony tails

I thought it may be that's why I kinda threw out there that I do wear ponytails and man buns and that it could be traction alopecia but I wasn't sure but I'll definitely take your advice and I'll stop with the any type of hairstyle that would be pulling my hair

I think you just have a mature hairline bro. Not that big of a deal. I would still try hopping on finasteride if you have a family history of male pattern baldness. You could prevent any future hairloss.

As i wrote, i think you're fine dude, but it wont hurt to go see a dermatologist just to be sure. It'll help you sleep better at night or in the worst case scenario, if he sees hair loss, he'll most likely tell you how to prevent it.

I appreciate all the feedback and everything but I have one more question that has yet to be answered... what Norwood am I?? Would you say I'm a Norwood 1 going into a Norwood 2 Aka maturing hairline or am I already a Norwood 2 going into a Norwood 3?? Me myself personally I'd like to think that all the thinning at my temples and everything is a result of me getting my mature hairline but Im not 100% positive so please give me your feedback and tell me what you think and please be honest thank you very much

Looks like a solid Norwood 1 to me (little to no hair loss). I'm telling you man, I really think it could be a traction alopecia issue. Using dyes, bleaching your hair, and wearing ponytails is begging for a little damage to the hairline. The thing is, if you stop doing these things, it WILL grow back if it's TA. Your hairline looks a lot like the hairlines of girls who wear their hair in ponytails, many many females have a small amount of traction alopecia along the hairline. It doesn't look like you will be bald any time soon (I say soon bc everybody is at risk at any given time). But try not to worry about it and check your hair in a few months. Don't pull or mess with that hairline anymore, distract yourself and give it a chance to heal. If it gets worse, consider treatments. I doubt it will be any worse in a few months

You would say I'm a Norwood 1?? So in retrospect I haven't even gotten a mature hairline yet? If that's the case I'm not gonna deny the fact that possible the thinning is the cause of me getting a mature hairline.. is it right for me to think that way? I mean I am 18 and from what I read I'm around the age where you start to get your mature hairline

So I think I should update you guys on something I found.. so I like I've said before my hair is long it's goes down to where my neck meets my back so I do wear ponytails and man buns occasionally but I've cut them out almost completely anyways I started to look a little more at my hairline and where it's thinning and I decided to get a comb and began to comb down the thinner hair down while I held the rest back and what I discovered is my hairline seems to be receding into this shape (picture attached) I guess the main thing I'm concerned about is whether or not it's maturing or I'm flat out beginning to go bald??.....Note the picture attached isn't actually me nor is it my hairline but as far as I've analyzed of my hairline it's what my hairline seems to be receding into... any and all feedback is appreciated thank you very much
