Hello.

Im 18 and my hairline has slightly receded over the past few months but this is not worrying me that much since i think this is normal for some people. What is worrying me though that i noticed a lot of small, miniaturized hairs in the middle of my hairline. Not on temples but specifically on the middle and if i style my hair upwards, the middle part is always going down because not fully grown hair are not strong enough.

Here is the picture of it: http://oi58.tinypic.com/2pra80p.jpg

Overall my head are very thick but when i rub hand through my hair very hard, sometimes i can see a few reaaally small hair fall out (around 1cm, my hair on head are longer than those).

Does hair miniaturization up front means that i am balding?

I don't see any miniaturization or recession

It is normal for there to be some finer hair around the hairline. Plenty of women I know have this. I think you've nothing to worry about. You have good baseline pictures, so just see where you are in 6 months, ie if it has changed any.

Thanks to both of you for replying guys. Maybe they can't be seen on pictures because my hair are very light but i think there is some recession. Anyway, i am much calmer now and hopefully there is nothing to worry about.

Also, i have been thinking about going on 0.25 mg a day finasteride just to minimise any future hair loss. Is it a good idea?

I wouldn't start finasteride mate. What I'd do is take pictures from the same angle and lighting, in 6 months and compare the two. You have great hair, I'm a NW2 so only have minimal loss, hut I'd swap with you in a heartbeat :)

Thanks. The reason i started this thread was because i noticed a lot of small hairs in the middle of my hairline, and i read somewhere that hair miniaturization=baldness.

Also look at your family, does your dad have male pattern baldness?

No, he has a full head of hair and some receding hairline (NW2 at most) at the age of 42.

@hairchaser congratulations on your progress!

Like someone already said, you have photos to compare with now later on down the line, if you notice any significant changes, then you can deduce that you're losing hair. As things stand currently, I personally can't see anything to worry about and I think you've fallen into the trap of obsessing over nothing (which i am guilty of myself for many things).
