I don't know if i'm receding or I've just been graced with a really bad hairline, when pulled back it looks worse but because I have thick curly hair it makes it look sort of straight apart from the peaky part. Could this be caused by using a hair dryer daily? Or am I going bald :| One.jpgthree.jpgtwo.jpgI've always had long hair so I've never really noticed until recently, but all my friends literally have perfectly straight hair and it's REALLY bugging me, thinking of cutting it off soon for university but haven't got the confidence to do it

You are not showing any conclusive symptoms of Androgenetic Alopecia given those pictures. The hairline whatever you have is sometimes normal for some people based on their ethnic heritage, or just individual traits etc. I have seen such hairline among biracial kids.

I see that your hair seems distressed or unruly. This is probably due to excessive dryer use and pulling with brush, and using cheap hair gel or waxes. You must stop those now; or you would regret it later because even if you dont have Androgenetic Alopecia, you may lose hair especially at frontal due to abuse or traction. Or else it could just be your natural hair texture.

With that said, it does not mean you are safe from Androgenetic Alopecia. You are still too young, so you will have to keep a close eye on any further recession occurring in a meticulous well balanced pattern-Androgenetic Alopecia proceeds slowly and very subtle. Other signs include excessive hairloss in shower etc. Read our previous posts to see how to gauge objectively any recession over time .

I wouldn't use a hair dryer regularly, it's terrible for your hair and scalp. Nothing like a good cotton towel.
