I really cant believe this. Having your hairline recede in your 20s is extremely uncommon but 18? This is so depressing. I know some of you out there have lost it all but Im 18 cut me a break. I will surely be bald before my 27th birthday. I keep obsessing over balding, I just cant stop thinking about it. The fact that I have a worse hairline then guys twice my age is extremely upsetting. Well here are some pics. I really cant deny that my hairline is receding now. The only good news is that my hair isnt shedding at all and its thick. But this may be the calm before the storm.... Anyways I think I will get on finasteride soon.

Are you miniaturizing at the temples or the front of the hairline? Are the hairs growing shorter/getting thinner/less density?

^ Not really. Its a little bit less thick but besides that its not really that bad. When I say I will go on finasteride soon I mean as soon as it gets noticeably worse. Like you said Im hoping its a mature hairline.... but Im not sure. Heres a pic of my hairline 2 years ago. I cant really tell if its gone farther back or not.

They don't look like receding hairlines to me.
They look normal. Not everybody has a hairline that is straight across.

I wouldn't worry about anything unless you become convinced it's getting thinner on top to some degree, then get on finasteride/minoxidil.

Thats how my hairline started receeding. Might want to jump on some minoxidil right away. It worked for me when I was at that stage. Just dont skip any applications. You might want to consider propecia in a few years, but its also risky in terms of side effects.

from the info and pics given, looks like just your hairline.
my dads hairline is the sameway but deeper, he's 60 and a billion follicles strong.

look, its a bit scary at first when u start to recede(ever so slightly), but the fact is u will recede. only a tiny minority keep their original hairline.
Its possible its the beggining of male pattern baldness, but the only way to know is to get a miniturization study done.
Most likely its just ur hair slowly receding into a mature hairline. Lots of men recede a bit then just stay that way. Probably if u were able to look at ur friends hairlines as closely as ur looking at ur own u would see the same thing happening.
we see alot of young folk here, with there first tiny bit of recession, all panicky about it. The fact is u will recede. thats not neccessarily male pattern baldness. It doesnt neccessarily mean u will ever go bald.
chill out and forget about it for a few yrs. when or if u recede say 1/2-1 an inch on the sides, then think about it some more.
(finasteride is not something everyone should be on just as a preventitive.)
i know its hard, but stop looking at ur hairline close up in the mirror. ur going to wreck ur younger yrs with worry and panick, about something thats very hard to change, besides treatments will make u lose more hair than youve ever lost b4, in their initial shedding phase.
