Your temples are thick AF, but they're receding, that's a lucky pattern to have, my left temple literally disappeared in the space of 6 months, if you stay on Finasteride, your hair will be safe for a long time lol, considering you're 26 and only have mild thinning

DW about the sheds, you'll be fine, just have faith in the meds, you're doing the most you can do for your hair by taking finasteride, just try to focus on your normal life and try not to fixate about your hair, and soon you will find you don't have to think about hair loss at all, because finasteride is doing it's jo
If it’s thick does that mean less chance it will progress? Been told ima NW1 but others say Norwood 1.5 so idk. Here’s a few I took today. So far finasteride has been good not too crazy shedding anymore just worried of possibility of sides down the road.

It looks to be receding, I can see some minaturised hairs, but it's still thick. Like a solid NW1.5

Also about sides, I'm 18 and on finasteride, and can't grow beard hair lol, you're 26 and probably fully developed, finasteride can't f*** you up like it could do to me, it seems to be very well tolerated in your age group, I'd say the people who get the most fucked up by sides are mostly between 18-21 because they're not fully developed, so taking it messes up there prostate. So I'd say, try not to worry about sides, because nocebo is a really powerful thing, but if you feel really uncomfortable with taking finasteride rn, you are still safe to drop it, and watch it for 6 months to see if it recedes anymore.

But I'd say stay on it, it's helping me with my mental health knowing that I'm doing what I can for my hair, and it has stopped me worrying so much, but my hair loss is more agresssive than yours.

I just don’t know what’s going on at this point, I feel like my hair is growing back in that area I took those pics of my hairline. Idk if I experienced temporary loss because it looked more receded back in December. But you’re right it’s a good idea to stay on finasteride at this point for peace of mind.

Hey, i just started finasteride too, I'm gonna take a break from this site for a while, maybe you should consider that too, because it's best for your mental health of you don't think about hair loss everyday, especially now we're on finasteride

Yeah. Hopefully I can revert to Norwood 1 as i feel I have some form of temporary hairloss as my bangs are thickening up again. Could even be long term effect of accutane even after 6 years of being off the drug! Only time will tell.

@infamousrodi, Ok, before I retire, I decided I would take a look at your thread since you asked nicely. You are past a NW1 but not yet a NW2 so as you have been told you are somewhere in between. Your crown is thinning slightly but you do have naturally low density too. That means you never had super thick dense hair like most hispanics have. You have fine caliber hair so it's going to show some scalp more easily when wet or greasy. You were right to start finasteride at this stage of hair loss. If you want to thicken it up some more you could start with minoxidil too but you could shed alot too. If you look all over the internet you will find the best success stories involve both the use of minoxidil with finasteride. So it's up to you if you are willing to take the risk. I doubt you will revert back to a NW1 so don't make that your goal. Your only goal now is to maintain as much hair as you can until we have better treatments. Your hair is still decent at this point and worth saving since you have a strong history of balding. Don't obsess with your hair or it will ruin your life. Focus on your career instead.

Your hairline at start was in decent shape from the pictures, especially for someone at your age. I've seen people in their late teens past a Norwood III. Although it isn't always an indicative sign, the fact that you've been sides-free so far should suggest you'll be fine later on as well.
Hopefully the same can be said about the strength of finasteride which tends to degrade over time.

Just updating. Here’s a few pics I took after a hair trim. How are things looking? Been a month on finasteride. Stylist agreed that my hair felt finer then usual so that kind of freaked me out.

I commend you for staying off the forums for about a week. Keep it up and let the medication do its job. Looks about the same though - which is a good sign because normally around 1-2 months in you're going to be shedding. I think most people will notice improvement around 3-4 months so you have to keep pushing through for a while longer.

It’s been over a week since last post also no sides which is good. Yeah not much shedding. Does it look like I have any sort of male pattern baldness? My family keeps dismissing it and calling me crazy.

I think there's a reason you are here. So just sit back and try to take some comfort in knowing you are doing something about it, and accept that it is going to take more time before you get into the regrowth phase.

Yes I haven’t been thinking of it lately just in the back of my head. Would you say I’m Norwood 1ish? Any of the pics I posted look like any hair loss visible?

I think the general consensus is about 1.5. Would probably look like a solid 1 with different hairstyles and cuts. Not very noticeable. But the goal is of course to keep your hair for most of your life so all you can do is focus on doing what you can to accomplish that goal.

At 26 years old though. Does my hair/hairline look pretty stabilized or does it look like it will progress more?

What dose of finasteride do you take and how often?
