Just past 2 months on finasteride and due to extreme tiredness I have had to cut to 0.5mg which seems to have improved that side. Libido is o.k. although a bit random.

On the hair front its just got worse and worse and no sign of the rapid hairloss I was suffering subsiding. Its getting near to buzz stage which I really wanted to avoid.

I really thought that by now my hair might reach a steady state on finasteride although realised I could be waiting months to get any improvement to get be back to baseline.

So all in all very unhappy and can only see hair continuing to go downward at this time.

Sry to hear about your bad luck with finasteride. But keep in mind that you are only 2 months into treatment. This means nothing, give finasteride at least one year. I am in a similiar situation as you. I am more than six months on finasteride yet don´t see any stopping of my hairloss. Maybe it slowed down the inevitable by now, but it is definetly depressing to see it getting thinner and thinner. All we can do for now is wait any pray that finasteride starts working before it is too late and we are forced to shave.....

cmon mate youve been on it for less than two months. you need to give it more time. patience is a virtue and all that.

if youve been on finasteride and dutasteride for two years like me then you can moan!

Thanks Guys,

I just think some people are really good responders and some are not.

My concern is that it is having a negative effect for me and I would have been better off not starting anything. Beginning of last year I had all my hair and now i've lost half of it and that's after trying treatments but still can't find a way of slowing.

Maybe DHT is not the only thing at work beind some hair loss.

I'll keep the faith in finasteride for some time yet as there's not much more I can do. In the end it will be a buzz I guess if loss doesn't subside in next few weeks as it will look worse not buzzed. Keep praying

Not to discourage you but I am on month eight of finasteride (Propecia) and my hair loss has gotten so aggressive that if it continues at this rate I may be doomed and that is nothing short of a lie.

One year ago I had what appeared to be a full head of hair. Today, even the second coming of Jesus Christ wouldn't astound people as much as my hair has diminished in density. You and I seem similar in that respect.

Not to discourage you but I have been on finasteride (Propecia) for eight (8) months and it would appear that my shedding has gotten worse and worse. In fact it is so aggressive I dread having to touch my hair or run my hands through my hair for fear of pulling out an obscene amount of hair. Obscene!

However, I remain vigilant in my use of finasteride for the hope that my situation may get better. You must realize that by the time you notice your hair loss you would have been experiencing it for quite sometime before so for finasteride to really work it's magic it needs to do so over a prolonged period of time.

Some users finally stop shedding after two years if you can wait that long.

I am about to start ApplePolly as DHT is but one pathway but by all means not the only. You should investigate others...

Glad I read this post...I think.

I've been slowly receiding for a few years now, my hair is still decent but it is going. So before xmas I decided to start fincar just to preserve what I've still got. Ran for about 3 weeks and notice more shedding than normal especaily after showering, 10+ hairs on hands 30 hairs on the towel so I stopped taking. The thing is the shedding stayed the same so I've decided to give it another go. It's been 3 weeks now and shedding still bad, styling my hair today left hairy palms. From today I've dropped the fincar from 1.25mg to .5mg as there's a few posts showing research that says .5 is enough. My worry is is the fincar excellerating hair loss as opposed to preventing it. My scalp is definately more itchy.
From what I'm reading on here you have to use it for at least a year to see if it's working. The problem being if it's not and it is the cause of my shedding then I'll be bald by then :freaked2: Can it cause hair loss??
Any thoughts or advice to us worried users.
