2 Months Into Finasteride, No Maintenance?

Hi guys,

I am currently 2 months into finasteride and I have seen no progress at all. In fact, the hair loss has sped up around the temple area. The crown area seems to be exactly the same.

I started finasteride to try and maintain the temple area as I know regrowth would have pretty slim chances. I understand that it’s not long enough to judge if it’s working or not, but I wanted the hair loss to slow down in the temples... Opinions?

I'm in the same boat, 2 months and nothing. I know people say to wait a year or more, but I've encountered anecdote after anecdote where guys see results in less than 3 months.

It seems like users who get good results see some change early, while guys who see nothing for many months either never respond or get a slowdown in loss but still end up bald in a few years.

Is anyone reading this that got good results or long term maintainence but didn't see anything in their first year?

I think I’m gonna ride it out for another couple of months, if I see maintenance or regrowth I’ll stay on the drug for a while. If not then a hair transplants is the way to go.

I’ve spoken to multiple doctors who have advised me that my donor area is strong and that id be an ideal candidate for a hair transplant. I’ve spoke to uk doctors too, who don’t cut corners by promising x amount of grafts that will cover unrealistic areas lol. Hopefully the finasteride works but we will see....

Don’t get a hair transplant if you’re not on an anti androgen or your hair will just carry on receding behind the transplant
